Hi all, just got a new computer... and I knew it would be to good to be true to be able to rip and burn without issue.
Am using shrink and record now and was working a treat until the kids tried to watch a movie on xbox. Ages ago when I was using shrink and nero I remember a check box that I checked to enable xbox and playstation viewing. But I am unsure as to where this setting was and in which programme, have downloaded nero and cant see it there either.
Help me please.

I honestly don't know why a DVD wouldn't work in an Xbox like normal. You may get more help down in the Xbox forums. I remember i never had any problems playing DVDs in my PS2 with DVD Shrink. You should ask in the XBox forums, im sure if anyone knows the answer it would be them.

Try changing the book type to ROM with Nero.

@roseskym - Post relevant section of Nero log minus your serial number which usually begins with 1A21 or similar. The log should be in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.txt. (it's appended to by each burn so only post the last section). It could be a few things, some or all have been hinted in your other replies so far..

@roseskym - can't see anything obvious in the log. can't see your exact media type listed in the log, i guess your older version of Nero doesn't state/or know about exact media type. All i can really think of is compatibility - ie look into book typing the discs as they're +R format.. do a search, there's been quite a few posts about book type recently...

ps my Nero has always had "DVD high compatibility mode:" set to Yes . Can't remember where it's set exactly, try a search..

You could try updating your ASPI.

Which Ritek are you using.

Edit- added "[" - aD's "Nero" link messed up my link.

Yes it seems it might be the burner causing the issue from what I read on a link from wild77.
Anyway have posted a thread there and we shall see whether they can help.
Dvd identifier tells me I am using DVD+R ritek Co R03.
Have since used decryter..... plays everywhere but the xbox.
Have to assume its the burner
Which is NEC DVD RW ND-3500AG.
Thanks for everyones suggestions.

@roseskym - i still think you should try setting the book type first -
Quote:
The Book Type setting allows you to freely choose a DVD+RW or DVD+R disc to be written as a DVD-ROM book type, the most recognizable disc format for DVD players.

@ creaky

Great links. I found out LG may soon update my 4120b firmware to support booktype settings.

Good news even though it is a very good writer.

Thanks

@Noqoilpi - cool. I have goldfish memory so if it's something i don't use often (like most things MS Windows) i forget indepth details far too easily, so i tend to copy/paste after skim-reading to make sure i'm not passing on rubbish.

:)
