DVD Shrink has a setting for region free just before encoding. How do know the burned movie is still region 2?

flanker2 ,
You need to convert "PAL to NTSC". You can google for that and get alot of programs but if you have Premiere or Scenarist they will do it. Also TMPGEnc will also do it if I am not mistaken.

Had the same problem with PAL after I bought a new Sony. I was told at the Best Buy that the major manufacturers can't sell PAL players in the states HOWEVER you can find a cheap ($30) CyberHome player that will play both. My soluition was to have 2 separate players...my Sony for NTSC and my good old cheapo for PAL.

Hello.
Having some of the same problems as being discussed here. I have a DVD from Greece that I cannot play in any of my DVD players. It plays fine on the PC (Windows Media Player). I ripped/coverted it to region free using Shrink and it still won't play. I'm wondering if my problem is this PAL issue you guys are talking about.
How can I tell if PAL is the problem. Will DVDInfoPro tell me if it's in PAL format?
Thanks!

Hi Lumpy755,
You can ID NTSC/PAL with Nero's info tool:
If you don't have it you should be able to download it here.
http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/Nero%20Toolkit.zip
It's a zippped file so just extract it.
Let me know if it works for you.
Cheers,
Frank

Thanks Frank.
I used your Nero InfoTool suggestion and sure enough, it's PAL format. I'll try and find a suitable program to convert it.
