I see that others have listed MGS3 as a nothing special burn, but I have tried 2 different originals and nero freezes just at the end of the reading process and decrypter does about 63%, i thought the first was a scratch problem, but this seems unlikely now? any thoughts?
Most likely its your Media or your Burn speed Use Quality Media Burn at 2x (MAX)
Ps2 games are actually pressed DVD/CD discs, they are not burned. Original games use the Burst Cutting Area (BCA) of the disc to identify themselves to the PS2 unit. The BCA is not part of a disc that you can burn on, it is only replicated on pressed discs.
So, the only way to play backups is to get boot-discs or a mod-chip.
DVD Decrypter is the program
Use Quality Media I use
Verbatim dvd+r
***** BURN AT NO MORE THAN 2X****** <-----------(IMPORTANT)
TURN OFF ANY BACKGROUND APPLICATIONS
1. Take the ps2 game put it in the dvd rom or dvd burner, your choice.
2. open the dvd decryptor program then go to to tool bar and hit MODE>ISO>READ. Then choose the correct dvd drive that the game is in as the "source". Also choose where you want the files to be stored on the pc hdd. THEN CLICK DECRYPT , or the huge graphical picture at the bottom of the program which makes it run. The game is now copying to your HDD. Take the game out when finished (it might take a while).
3. Go to the same tab in dvd decryptor and choose MODE>ISO>WRITE. This will then let you look for the files you just created in step 2. Select the file that you just created. (There is only 2 files creadted so pick the .mds) (The smaller file)Then click WRITE, make sure there is blank DVD in the drive.
well, decrypter would get to about 65% or so, accumulate like 70 retries, then just say an error, like unable to read disk, i think its a scratch, but thats 2 originals that have done that, kinda weird. Dont work with Nero either.
-Unrelated topics, but maybe i can get some answers:
1. Does the trial version of Alcohol 120 do anything useful or do you have to buy it?
2. I seem to be having problems where no one else has (i.e. Tiger 2005) is it the media? (Memorex -R's) the burner? (sony +/- DL, the new one) then again maybe im just frustrated and drunk (well I know the second of those to be a fact) haha peace
EDIT: forgot to mention, i have a V4 if this helps you help me :)
trust me,its garbage
memorex are dying on old habits and the reputation of being a big brand is carrying them through
some people like it and use it.......but i wouldnt touch it,unless i knew who made the disc's
memorex sub-contract the making of the disc's elsewhere and often use dodgy manufacturers...like CMC
