All you really need to do is open the first RAR (001.rar or 000.rar) which ever is the first one. Sometimes rar's are made with a base rar. and it'll have no number. Meaning for say Midnightclub3.rar then have other rar's with the numbers or part 1 ext, Just open the first RAR and click the Extract To button. Extract it to the extracted path it gives you. most times it'll go into it's own folder inside where the rar files are. You should only end up with either the ISO / Bin-Cue / MDF-MDS ext, After doing that. It'll pull all the info from the other rar files Automatically. Then use a guide like this one to achieve your desired rip. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/196275

Hursty/Quake-69:Thank you for your reply,I have followed those exact instructions for .rar and still can't burn, I am using Nero VisionExpress 3 and it works excellent for most other movie files. However once I download a .rar then bring up WinRAR and click "Extract to" from this point on I seem to be lost, I don't know if something keeps escaping me or I am just plain thick and can't figure it out, regardless I can't figure out how to get this file into my Nero program so I can burn the movie and I've downloaded and deleted at least a dozen .rar file movies because of it. I know I am missing out on some good movies because I can't burn these type of files. It seems like the only ones that I can burn are the movies that have the Windows Media Icon beside them once there downloaded. I am right now downloading another movie in .rar form so I can learn from you. I'll take all the advice I can get from you guys who know all about it. Thanks

well for one,you are posting in the ps2 forum, and you should be in the dvd section,
but being as we are here, and to save you from being warned about multi posting, here goes
when you download a movie, they are compressed using winrar, which is what you have
you extract them,of which you have done so
now you need to get them onto a dvd disk
so,they need to be converted,as you well know
personally i dont like nero,it sucks for quality
i use vso's dvixtodvd (free),and an app called mainconcept mepg encoder
i need to know what the file types are you are having problems with,
try this
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/v...
open up the app,and load in the avi,if you have more than one, just load them in on top of each other,it will take up to 3,
then click convert
this will give you a video ts folder containing all the vob's etc
burn the ts folder with an app that will handle them
i use clonedvd2
if you know how to post a picture, then do so,show me what type of files they are, what is the extension?
btw,you should pm a moderator, asking him to move this thread to the correct section
:)

I just don't get it, I downloaded a movie called Submerged 2005.STV.Screener-COBRA.rar on BitComet via TorrentSpy Then highlighted it then double clicked WinRAR the movie then appeared so I then clicked "Extract to" then another window called "Extraction Path and Options" opens with \Submerged.2005.STV.Screener-COBRA in the drop down menu/window so I just click "ok" then a little window opens saying: Extracting from Submerged.2005 it's after this that I don't know what to do? I've looked for the file through my Nero program and other ways but dammed if I can find it, also I am a rookie on the computer so I don't know how to post pictures to you. Most people sound as if this is the simplist file program going and for the life of me I can't get it figured, I also downloaded the 1Click DVD Program you provided and I tried to get the .rar file into it but no way!

when you extract a rar file, the easiest way is to select the "extract here" option, this will put the contents in the same folder as the rar files
you cannot load rar files in vso's dvixtodvd
NB.when you download torrents, download them into a folder located on your desktop so you you can find them easy

Hursty, 'ol buddy 'ol pal sorry for being thick on this Winrar deal but would it be possible for you to give me a simple step by step senario of getting a movie that is in .rar form into a package that I can burn with my Nero? Although I downloaded your dvixtoddvd I don't want to purchase the mepg encoder at this time, for me a Canadian it would cost around $200.00cnd. and I just spent a lot more than that buying the DVD Burner and the Nero program, thanks a lot for your help. Maybe I should just send you a plane ticket and get you up here in north east British Columbia, Canada for your personal help, lol,.
Another thing is I tried to get the dvixtodvd program to convert a file called:"mr and mrs smith.avi" I did manage to get the file into the program but when I clicked the convert button I received the following info:
1)Exception during conversion Output may not be available
2)Can't open input file C:\Program Files\Ares\My shared Folder\mr and mrs smith.avi
3)Conversion started
So I don't know what to do to burn this avi file???

first of all, locate the rar file(s).
it should look like a 3 books strapped together
right click on the first one,and select "extract here"
do this, then tell me what it gives you
you dont have to extract them all, just the first one.
if you only have one, then thats fine

What I did was uninstall WinRAR then reinstall it so everything is fresh, then I brought up the WinRAR program then found the movie file through the drop down menu , the movie file wasn't in the three book form there was a folder icon and a Windows media file icon beside the movie, then I right click it and found two Extract prompts one said "Extract to the specified folder" and the other said "Extract without confirmation" does this sound normal so far? which Extract should I click if any?

then just load it into vso's dvixtodvd, and click convert
this will give you a ts folder which you burn onto dvd disk
if this doesnt like it try another app, like dvd santa,or main concepts mpeg encoder
try vso's first, ignor the messages, just convert it,then burn to dvd,you burn the ts folder straight to dvd,(i use clonedvd2)

I now absolutly can't get the file into "vso" and when I right click the Windows Media icon along with the mr and mrs smith file I get the two Extract prompts(above) but no "Extract here" so which one do I click? Or does this type of file not apply to WinRAR. I know when I opened it before it was in this order: cd2,cd1, sample, and when I opened one of the cd files there was a bunch of .rar files so I am kind of stumped here, it looks like it plays out both ways but I still can't get it into one of the converting programs. There seems to be a lot of differant forms of files to learn how to convert so I can burn them. So what should I start with???

I decided to try another movie file and was finaly able to find the senario you described: I found the "Extract here" and clicked it, a small Winrar window opened saying; Extracting from submerged.2005 and directly under it was Extracting and under it was cobra-sub.bin then when that finished another window with;
Password
winrar icon(three books)Submerged.2005.STV.SCREENER-COBRA
cobra-sub
cobra-sub.cue
cobra-sub2.cue
cobra-sub2
And now it has finished and disappeared, where would I find it and how do I carry on? Also before I could get the file to where I could do anything with it I had to change the dropdown menu from "All supported video files" to "All files" only then could I continue on.
None of the programs will accept the file.

Quote: when I right click the Windows Media icon
you do not right click the media file, there is no need, its already been extracted
just open vso's dvixtodvd, and source for the media file icon, select it,and convert it

That's what I thought as well, however none of the burning programs will accept it as it is, why I don't know usually when I see a windows media icon I can get it into my nero program and burn it with no problem, but this time it's not going like usual, the only difference is when I was able to open the file there was a cd2,cd1,sample in that order then when I opened the cd2 there were a bunch of .rar files. I relayed this info to you in a previous post, maybe you missed that one. That's where I said I was stumped & still am,it's the third post back, and I've added you to my contacts.
