am getting somewhere - try different versions of HD Loader or HD Advance... mine now boots to the menu screen using a friends copy of HD Loader that he got specifically for God of War.

I have a QUESTION!! I have a PS2 (SLIM).I just got the maxtor 80GB with a enclosure. And i just orderd a USBExtreme. If you have a SLIM PS2 is that all you need(PS2, HDD, Enclosure, and the USBEXTREME)? Or do you need the mod and Magic Switch(Ghost Switch)?

to format a harddrive first connect it to your pc and go in dos and type in C:\format Y: but make sure that theres a space between format and the harddrive letter.
Y represents the harddrive letter

ok, first things first, do you have a fat ps2, or a slim ps2? if u have the fat one, youll need a netwrok adapter, a harddrive (new or old, doesnt matter, as long as its big enough to fit the games on it you want) and hdloader/hdadvanced.
if you have the slim ps2, youll need and external harddrive enclosure with usb, and usbloader

I just got a Seagate 160 GB and HDAvance. Everything seems good as far as installing and formatting HD. It let go to the Option page and I chose to convert a game (save to HDD) but I keep getting a "Not enough memory on HD" message. It's a brand new HD with no files on it, it even shows that I have 148 GB free space. I try with 6 difference games and all the same result. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Still not working, try with difference network adaptor and PS2 with same result. It keep telling me I cannot convert game due to not enough memory on HD. It's a new HD w/ no files/game on it, also show I have 148 GB free space.

How do you reformatt in the PS2? I can't find an option to reformatt, I try to use a second PS2 hoping it will let me reformatt but still does not work. If anyone knows please let me know. The place where I bought it will replace the HD if I send it back to them on Monday, but if I can get it to work it would save me some times. Thank you.

if theres no option in hdloader, hdadvance to format, then jus plug it in ur pc, and then format it to ntfs or fat, then put it back in ur ps2 and have it auto format it again

Just a question to do with formatting of an external hard drive for ps2. I recently formatted my hard drive with WinHIIP to the Ps2 format. But now I want to convert it back to just normal old FAT32 or NTFS so that windows recognizes it! Any suggestions please its frustrating having this barely usable HD.

yea, ive converted it successfully back before, and am actually using as a slave right now. i might have usd the software that came with it, or i might have jus tried to install xp onto it and had it format it. dont remember. but try some software from the company who made ur harddrive, that should work
