This is probably a noob question, but after trying the search box and finding nothing I figured it could hurt to ask. I might be wrong but I thought netflix dvds were supposed to "self-destruct" after a given time period of like a week or something. With that in mind, I was wondering if netflix dvds can be ripped and burned the same way that regular dvds can or if there is some other process that much be followed, or if its just flat out impossible?

It's fine if you disable the tracer chip.

I don't have a Netflix subscription, but this is an interesting read:

BTW, what you are referring to - the self-destructing DVDs - was a variation of DivX. They are testing this new disposable DVD now that has deteriorating dye when exposed to oxygen. Why bother? Just use Princo media. ;)

Yeah that bloddy tracer chip will get you for sure!! Theres is even more suffisticated than Block Busters. A buddy of mine is doing some time now for copying those disk's from Netflix.. Thats why there's cost more than Block Buster because of the advanced chip they place in each disk.

They came to my neighbor's house the other day. But he put on his tin foil hat and walked around in circles counter clockwise. They couldn't see him. They came and talked to me but I told them I was a RIAA employee and that I was too busy finding 80 year old grandmothers sharing 15 year old Madonna and L.L. Cool J songs online. They got into their black helicopters and flew away.
