I am doing a project in flash (Macromedia Flash MC 2004), in which we will have large and heavy video-clips.

It is meant to be pressed onto DVD-discs later (8000 ex).

What is really important is to know WHAT speed that are most
common by the dvd-readers.

Since the video-clips will "stream" from the dvd-reader
I must compress my movies correctly according to the most commons
DVD-speeds that people has.

Myself has a 16x DVD-reader, but I got a brand new computer.

Anyone know of statistics and so on, or has some thoughts about this?

Hi there,

Based on what I have read of a long time, a few factors are important:

1- Get good quality media (Taiyo Yuden seems to be the most liked).

2- Burn at lower speed, 2x, or 4x MAX.

3- Seems DVD-R are most compatibles on PlayBack or DVD+R faked as DVD-ROM using BitSettings. ( Read that a few times, don't quote me as being an expert ! )

4- Try not to burn to close to the end/edge of the media. Using DVDShrink, you can set your size to 4300, or 4400 Mb compared to the default 4464 Mb. Maybe other software also let's you choose the size.

Then most drives will read the DVD regardless of their reading speed.
When you play the DVD you are reading 1x anyway. (Quicker drives can probably read ahead since most DVD-Rom are 16x these days).

My 2 cents...

I may be missing something, but I think the original poster is talking about PRESSING DVDs, not buring them. I don't think there are different standards for different readers, but I could be wrong.
