I have heard so many different opinions in regards to the "Best Media". What is the best media in your opinion and why? ...and cost?

You will get so many varying opinions on this subject it is ridiculous! Just use the search function provided at the top of the page, and read through the 100's of post's already on this subject and make an informed decision. That is the best advice I can give you :-)

Verbatim Metal AZO and Taiyo Yuden are a good place to start. All said and done the best method is to buy small amounts of different brands and see what works best for you :)

Advanced Azo is the newer of the two, and supposed to be better. More like industrial strength.

Advanced AZO is used to produce a recording layer with an improved power margin and greater sensitivity that ensures stability at faster recording speeds.

The metal azo is really made of metal, or just a shiny silver?

AZO Dye,

An azo dye is one of an extensive range of synthetic organic dye made from aniline, by first converting it with sodium nitrite to a diazonium chloride salt which is then reacted with other aromatic amines, phenols and sulphonic acids. The well known indicator methyl-orange is formed by making the diazo salt of sulphanilic acid, and reacting the product with dimethylaniline

Aniline
aniline (an·i·line) (an¢[ibreve]-lin) [Arabic an-nil indigo plant] a colorless oily liquid arylamine derived from coal tar or indigo, made commercially by reducing nitrobenzene. It is slightly soluble in water and freely so in ether and alcohol. Combined with other substances, especially chlorine and the chlorates, it forms the aniline colors or dyes. It is an important cause of serious industrial poisoning (anilinism), and high doses or long exposure may be carcinogenic. Called also amidobenzene and aminobenzene

Google is a powerfull thing :-)

should i be worried now?? after all these dvd's i've used i might be prone to coming down with a pretty bad case of this anilinism...sounds pretty awful. well, if you don't see me here for awhile, everyone will know why :) "he burns soooo much that he just got anilinism and died due to over-exposure"

hahaha. that would be very unpleasant~

burn safely all~

I think RiDATA uses Log Cabin in their dye because my last batch of R03's smelled just like syrup. I thought it might just be me but several others thought the same when they smelled them.

sweet sweet syrup from Taiwan~ hahahah...oooh aaahhh...i have the Ridata GO5's that a lot of people complain about, they have worked just fine w/ my setup...sony's/lite-on's/ and my old old ancient optorite (piece of crap) loved them too~

i use mainly TY and Verbatim only on my Pioneer and Nec drives, since they burn these babies even faster than my sony~

good luck to you all and choosing the best media~ my opinion is still unwavering that i would have to say Taiyo Yuden (dash format is what i like) and Verbatim (plus format on this brand). :)
