Hi, I've recently bought a DVD writer and want to start converting my SVCD collection. They are on my computer in the form of .bin and .cue files.

Is there any way of patching them together to get one complete movie file and burning it to DVD-R?

Thanks

Kev

hi Kev

1)download ultraiso http://www.ultraiso.com and use it to exract the video files from the bin files by opening them up and extracting the file in the Avesque folder
2)download tmpgenc http://www.tmpgenc.com and use it to join your files together so that you have each movie as one file.
3)either

use dvd lab pro http://www.dvdlabpro.com to add the films (you will fit a few films on each dvd) and create a menu to select each one.

or

winavi http://www.winavi.com to convert the video file to vobs (dvd format files) and use nero or alcohol120 to burn to dvd.

let me know if that wasnt clear or if you have any difficulty.

Alas, the 'mpeg' which are on a SVCD (image), are not 'TRUE MPEG' but 'RIFF FILES WITH HEADERS'.
Before doing anything, convert them to 'true mpeg' with VCDGear [you can convert the file ('mpeg -> mpeg' if it comes from a SVCD or 'dat -> mpeg' if it comes from a VCD) or the image: Nero ('nrg -> mpeg'), CDRWin ('cue/bin -> mpeg') or Dreamcast ('sfd -> mpeg')].
Afer that, join the 2/3 mpegs (TMPGenc___MPEG Tools___Merge & Cut or MPEG-VBR: Womble Mpeg Converter or many others..) and author the DVD from that 'full' movie (hoping the CDs don't overlap, or you'll also have to cut a little the movies which are inside them). Since the movie is a SVCD movie, author it with an application that accepts (S)VCD MPEG-1(2) movies without tryng to encode them as MPEG-2 DVD movies, like DVD Lab.
Read also http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/183277 (similar to yours), for a more detailed explanation.

I backed up My 400 Movie SVCD Collection to DVD and the Best way was to "NOT" re-encode them but to use "DVDLab pro" to author the SVCD movies directly to DVD without re-encodeing ....

If you go to the Guides section of this site you will find a Guide on SVCD to DVD useing DVDLab...Here"s a Link to the Guide:

http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/svcd_to_dvdr_from_img.cfm

The guide basicly explain how to extract the Mpeg-2 files from your SVCD Disks or Images and then it explains how to join the Parts of your SVCD movies into a Single File and then it takes you through the authoring Process useing DVDLab...

Useing this Method there is No Quality Loss from the Original SVCD Movies and this way you can Fit up to "3" Full SVCD Movies on a Single DVD_R were any other Method will only let you fit one movie on each DVD and the Quality will be Badly degraded and it will take much longer....
