dvd+r writing problem when 'checking discs'

i've been using the wonderful guides on this site and dvd shrink for burning. at the end of the process, dvd shrink states it's 'checking discs'... then it does nothing else! literally was doing this for hours, and i just turned it off eventually.

i cant find any help for this problem anywhere.

You need to locate the exact manufacturer's code on your blank media-"discs". You can locate them through these programs:

Dvd Decrypter
Nero infotool
Dvdinfopro
Dvdidentifier

Here's the link to dvdinfopro. It has a free version with several handy scanning tests:

Here's a picture of the screen of dvdinfopro. Notice to the right for:Yuden000-T02 This is the MFG ID for sony +1x-8x made in japan.

Download dvdinfopro, insert your blank disc/open up dvdinfopro/click on the media icon on top-second from left/and this screen should appear:
