im new here and new to burning movies to dvd-r's. stupid question but, just wondering if there was a way to overwrite a dvd-r i just burnt, with a different movie if so, how?

You cannot overwrite a finalized disk, these are burn once. If you want to re-use a disk use DVD-RW

dvd -/+R are write once.

dvd -/+RW can be erased and writen may times.
