this was posted by tom6173 in an old thread which got no replies. i encountered the same problem when i was converting my avi anime into dvds. it would work fine on the computer but not on my tv. there was an option on the divx to dvd program that allowed a forced 4:3 aspect ratio but that didnt seem to work. newayz read below.

anyone has standalone divx/dvd player which can play uncropped anime subtitle?

i have difficulties reading the subtitles of some animes(avi. format)...the subtitles are very below on the TV screen...has been chopped off.......can this player adjust the picture size besides the zoom function?

i could only use zoom function to make the subtitles lifted up but it's not nice as it reduced the whole picture size to half.

please recommend any divx player which can fix this problem
