subtitled avi with vobsub not working

I have been using vobsub for watching avi's on my computer and has been working fine till i downloaded the divxcodec431 which i needed to open certain avi in virtualdub for framserving. Now, everytime i play an avi i get an error message saying windows media has encountered a problem and needs to close. Any ideas how i can resolve this problem?

conflicting codecs!!
had the same problem myself.i removed the codec!
