I bought Lemont snicket's and darkness today and when i tried to back them up i used dvd decryptor and their was an read error at the very begining of my brand new dvd is this a new type of protection? or and i just dumb? is it is a new protection can soume one please help me out

I backed up both those movies and just used Nero and DVD Shrink only. Nothing special-encryption wise.

It might be dirty,look for finger prints. Or it could be a bum disc. Seems like a lot more of those bum discs are showing up every week.

Try DVD Shrink and burn with DVD Decrypter.

I used DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter with no problems, try movie only in Shrink and see if this makes a difference. Try cleaning the disk.
