Does anyone know why are there both 2ch and 5.1 audio audio tracks on dvd, and why one is sometimes better mastered than the other?

hi

its so your player / speaker conifguration can make the best of sound you have have 5.1 surround system or not, 2 channel then for normal

but not sure why one is better? there is the odd dvd film you need to choose the one you dont normally, if that makes sense....

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

I've noticed that the 5.1 channel is sometimes the better track, particualy with concert videos. I didn't think any dvd players were made that couldn't downmix 5.1 into 2 channels.
