Nero can make a log file at the end of a burn. Did you save yours? If so can you post it so we can see what the actual error message is?

Be sure to edit out your Nero S/N before posting.

Are you converting your mpegs to DVD-Video files or just burning the mpegs?

Try this:
Remove Nero then download and install the latest vesion:

http://nero.com/us/nero-up.php

Run the Registry Checker and DriverClean tools as well:

http://nero.com/us/Clean_Tools.html

If you have anything that you have burned before, try burning it again. We need to figure out if your mpegs are the problem or if Nero is just messing up. Has anything changed in your system since you started having this problem?

Suspect your media - looks like it's not sensed to me from the log file.
Could be one bad disk.

Also enable DMA !!

Might help if the files were DVD compatible -

When they say Mpeg, it sounds like a partially rendered downloaded file that needs a bout with TMPGEnc DVD Author in order to work ? something to check -

Defiantly need some DMA on -

Divice manager, uninstall DVD burner - reboot PC to allow it to find the drive, install it and set it to DMA Transfer mode.

Please, Keep your media Ritek G05's are about as good a media as one could ask for . . .

Oops I missed the DMA whilst looking at a "Blank Check" error.:O

I compared my burn log from this Nero Version to his:

Mine:
Nero Version: 6.6.0.8
Recorder:<PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-109> Version: 1.40 - HA 1 TA 1 -6.6.0.8
Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2000kB
Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI
CD-ROM: <SONY DVD-ROM DDU1612 >Version: DYS1 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.8
Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1

celtic200:

Nero Version: 6.6.0.8
Recorder: <PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-109> Version: 1.40 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.8
Adapter driver: <> HA 1
Drive buffer : 2000kB
Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ?
CD-ROM: <ATAPI CD-RW 52XMax >Version: 160D - HA 0 TA 1 - 6.6.0.8
Adapter driver: <nvatabus> HA 0

I think that not only does DMA need enabled but that possibly a uninstall of the IDE/ATAPI controllers and a reboot may be in order.

Also maybe a problem with NVidia drivers? Tried Googling "nvatabus" and there seems to be a lot of issues with this.
Opinions?

Go to Device Manager - DVD / CD ROM Drives - right-click your drive - uninstall - Ok, OK to reboot, then your PC will find the drive and reset it to DMA OR Ultra DMA transfer Mode during installition.

Cheers,

Pete

celtic200,

Device Manager = Right-click My Computer - click, Properties - click, Hardware - click, Device Manager - DVD / CD ROM drives, right-click your burner, uninstall. - click -OK then all OK's to reboot your PC (Ignore all warnings). When your PC reboots it will re-install your drive and re-set the drive to DMA. Trust me, this works !

Cheers,

Pete

Try going to Control Panel and looking for "System". Then Properties and go from there.

I don't ever remember any system that didn't have Device Manager.

We'll find it somehow - Lol

You have to let us know if you were able to complete the process. If you had enabled DMA then that would show in your burn log. Which it doesn't. So at some point during the process of enabling, something went wrong or you did not complete the process.

I will attempt to give you a detailed guide:

Start then Right click "My Computer" and select properties from the menu.

Click "Hardware"

Click "Device Manager"

This opens a nice list of items on your computer. Look for the one that says "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. It should have a small box just to left with a + in it.

Click on the + in the box to expand this item.

Now you should see some entries appear. The ones you are interested in are the Primary IDE Channel and the Secondary IDE Cannel.

Lets check the Primary IDE Channel first. This is the channel your hard drive is usually connected to so it is important.

Double click the Primary IDE channel. This opens your Priomary IDE Channel Properties menu.

Click the Advanced Settings tab.

Here is where you can now change the "Transfer Mode" to "DMA if available". You should see the Current Transfer Mode just below the Transfer Mode menu. Yours should say PIO. Change it to DMA.

Do this for each device on the Primary IDE channel. You should have only one device on your Primary IDE channel, your hard drive.

Your burner and ROM should be connected to the secondary IDE Buss.

Lets check them next.

Close the Primary IDE Channels Properties menu.

Double click the Secondary IDE Channel in Device Manager.

Select the Advanced Settings tab.

Just as you did with the Primary IDE Channel, set the transfer mode for device 0 and device 1 to DMA if available.

That is all there is to it. Close everything and reboot your PC.

Please follow these steps. If you have a problem with setting your DMA, Let us know at which step it failed to work as descrbed. The point of all this is to provide a map so we know for sure that you actually got to where you needed to go to enable DMA.

Your DMA is still not enabled:

DiskPeripheral : Maxtor 6Y080L0 nvatabus Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-109 nvatabus Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : ATAPI CD-RW 52XMax nvatabus Port 0 ID 1 DMA: Off

This is an obvious problem that you need to get resolved before doing anything else. Did you do the steps I gave you?

Other problems:

It looks like you are trying to burn a data disc. :

Finalize CD : FALSE
Multisession : TRUE
Multisession type: : Start multisession

21:44:23 #17 Text 0 File DVDR.cpp, Line 2194
Recording mode: Sequential Recording Mode

Do you want your DVD to play in a DVD player or just your computer?

Sounds to me like a few points need clarification:

1. He stated he is burning mpeg to disk. Therefore, a data disc burn only is the issue (not dvd-authoring for top set dvd player playback)

2. DMA not enabled, but DMA will revert to PIO mode after a set number of mistakes unless you do this workaround. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=817472#kb4 for helping making sure it stays in DMA mode once you do change it.
a. Check your bios settings for DMA mode settings. It can be set to PIO mode (wrong one) there too!

3. Search for firmware updates for your burner. Use caution, double check, then check again that you update with the correct firmware. A good Google search will find what you need or confirm you have what you need already.

Hope this helps. Just seemed the issue was getting confused.

You have firmware version 1.40 which is the most current official firmware.
