has anyone successfully backed up national treasure?

first- i tried dvdxcopy, it froze up around 20%.

second- i tried shrink, it errored out during the initial read a little more than half way through.

third- i tried dvd decrypter, & it errored out at like 7%.

all of the programs that i tried using are the most recent versions.

i appreciate any help in taking care of this. thanks!

There are no special encryptions on this movie. DVD Shrink can handle it by itself; then use your burning app of choice. If you are having problems with this movie, more than likely you have a bad press or some scratches on the disk.

As Laboy said sounds like you have a bad disc - there seems to be alot of that these days. Try cleaning it. If that doesn't work you should exchange it. I had no problems using AnyDVD w/ Nero Recode.
You could also try Scuba Pete's 'hard to rip' DVD guide: http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/index.htm. This method has working for me however I haven't watched the back ups yet so I don't know if ignoring the errors caused any playback problems.

National Treasure is nothing special. Shrink and Decrypter can handle this easily.

what r we gonna do when they DO come out with new "special encryptions" that we cant crack right away, cause when someone cant burn a movie we automatically think "oh crap here's a new encryption" lol. not insulting anyone here just thought its funny how new encrytpions pop up every tuesday (when new movies are released in US)lol.

Any new encryption still has to be able to play in a normal DVD home player hense they will never be able to twart the programmers. I have one of the original hack T-shirts with the DVD encryption code what a great item sold in the 2600 magazine heheh. Try this run your PVR through your computer using AnyDVD and you can copy movies to your pvr hehehe. Why burn movies to a disc how old school. I need a terabyte hard drive heheheh christmas time weeeeeeee. Ah ignore all the secrets I have written above they are secrets. Opps did I say that outloud? I must increase my medication now bye!

May be a bad sector on the disc.Try just the movie portion of the disc itself, or run DVD43 in the background.www.DVD43.com
