Hey AD,
Here's another stupid question. I have a Sony Vaio, PCV-RS420 with a Pioneer DVR 106-D (upgraded firmware 1.10). My write speed was 4x, and when I was using 4x media, everything seemed fine. Started using 8x Memorex DVDS, and was instructed to update firmware.

Long story short; I can now burn DVDs using 1 click DVD, and make DVD home movies click to DVD, but when I put the disc back into the computer, it doesn't work. It works on both of my DVD players, but the drive acts like there's nothing there. (No disc in Drive E.) That's using Windows Media Player version 10, and Power DVD Version 4.0 XP. Is my drive fried? I can't figure it out. If I stick a 4x in there it seems to read it fine, and when I put a movie in the drive its also able to read the disc. It's only burned discs that are 8x speed. Is there some setting I need to configure, or did the firmware upgrade screw up my drive. I bought the computer 18 months ago?
