I tried 2 burn a dvd using a dvd-r using Nerovision Express,I downloaded the file off Ares n it is a avi the movie is about a hour n a half wen it was at 80% it said error disc full...i tried other blank discs n burned at 4x n it had the same mssg...than i heard i may need 2 compress the file yet dunno how can ne1 help me?

Trife,
Welcome to the forum. The easiest way to convert the .avi to mpeg-2 DVD-Compliant files is to use this program and it is free:

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/vso_divxtodvd.cfm

After you convert the files then use DVD Shrink to compress and it will automatically burn the Files to DVD using Nero if the burn using Nero box is checked.

Try to follow the links that Car.Mike mentioned above and you should be fine. As far as burning AVI alone using Nero, this, I've done in the past, however, I only burned the AVI file as DATA into a CD-R disc and put it in my PHILIPS DVP642 player and it plays flawlessly. No need to convert for me, especially I hate to wait for 2 or more hours of converting from AVI to DVD. Why don't you just get the PHILIPS dvd player and this will get you out of misery. It's only $69 from Target and Walmart.
