I use TDK DVD-R discs for burning movies, and the quality is good. But are these discs good for games? Also, is the reason why i can not burn at 1X on Nero because of these discs?

it's your burners firmware that limits write speeds never the software.

plus are they tdk brand or media id? cuz tdk brand are cmc mag which suck

I would run dvd identifier ( http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com )
And see what those TDK are.
If they are CMC maufactured that could be a problem.

(They may be fine for movies, But ps2 games read more frequently and
more randomly on the media.)
And therfore require a higher grade media,

The following list is in preference order.

MCC = Mitsubishi Chemicals = (-R)<-----------------VERBATIM MY CHOICE #1
TDKG02 = TDK Corp = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
TAIYOYUDEN or YUDEN = Taiyo Yuden = (-R)<--------------FUJIFILM (made in japan) MY CHOICE #2

thanks! ill definatly buy the better media. But since im trying to cioy LEGO Star Wars onto a DVD is the expensive media neccesary? And will the expensive media allowi me to burn a 1X on Nero? Right now 4X is my lowest with the TDK discs.

Your firmware is the only thing that can change your write speeds.
Get some 'quality' 4x MAX media,
and go to your burner manufacturers website and
UPDATE YOUR FIRMWARE.

Then you should be good to go.

the drives' firmware determines a media's write speed. different media even the best won't change this. get either MCC (verbatim) or TYG (taiyo yuden). those work best.

edit: hmm i didn't know a firmware update would do that. most newer ones if they don't have 1x an update won't do it

I have 8x TDK DVD+R media. I got a few 25 pks at Frys for only $7.99 a month or so ago. I use TDK specifally for all my backed up Ps2 games because I have so many games to back up and TDK is great with the sony playstation. I was using Sony dvd+r media but my playstation wouldnt even ready anything on song dvd media. TDK has given me zero coasters with movies and games.

Tis the bomb
