Ps2 online patched backups dont work!!

this is probably somethin that i have overlooked, but, the problem im having is i followed the directions how to patch ps2 games for online use, i got the directions from ps2nfo.com, everything went well, the game is call of duty by the way, any way, when i burn the game to disk, the first copy actually booted really well, but when i selected to play online the please insert a ps2 disk screen came up, the second time i tried, i deleted all the files and started from scratch, now the game wont boot at all, i dont understand what im doing wrong, i use swap magic to play backups, and the disk are ritek g-05 so i know its not my media............ anyone help??

if it's a version 3.0 , u need to use ppfomatic v.3. I made mybackup w/o using a patch and I still can go online, how strange.
