Cmag?
This is a manufacturer of dvd media. C-Magnetics corporation. They are on the lower end of the quality spectum when it comes to dvd +/- r media. Media quality is the #1 issue when it comes to dvd burning. They make some of the media for memorex/teon/store brand named media like staples/comp usa/Some of the plus format of tdk plus media and many others. This is one manufacturer that you want to stay away from. I've just heard the maxell uses these in some of their 5 pack dash media.
They usually code like:
CMCMag-Eo1
I don't have any issues with the only 40 pack batch that I purchased. I just keep the burn speed at the lowest that I can, keep compression to a minimum, reduce my target to 4300 mbs,and I don't put anything important on them. They can cause many problems in some burners, best to try to avoid them.Stand alones will have an even harder time reading them. Many members also posting their life-span is very short, even under 6 months from burning.
Usually for the same price, you can get a heck of a lot better media quality. But it's hard to tell who actually made those discs, before you open them up. Remember I mentioned Teon? The 20 pack spindles were made by ricohjpn-01 while the 40 pack spindles were made by cmags. That's a huge quality difference. That's another problem when you switch to different quantities. Memorex is notorious for that and they do use a bunch of cmags.
That's why it is advised to buy authentic taiyo yuden, verbatim data life plus, and Ritek.I do try a lot of different,on sale media.Usually I look for made in japan on those wrappers, they should be some of the best because taiyo yuden does make some maxell/fuji/and sony media.
