Area 51 is a new a new game for the Ps2. I backed it up recently using DVD Decrypter. The game seems to run fine, except may for slow loading and I often find that the audio, such as in the character's often repeating sentences. Has anyone run into this problem and if so, how is it fixed.

Also, is Dvd Decrypter the best software to use in order to backup Ps2 Games?

Thanks

Thanks for your reply. I'll try and backup Area 51 again to see if it will run smoother than my last. What do you mean buy patch? Are there specific downloads for certain games in order to back them up properly?

Playstation v.7. I was using Sony DVD-R until I realize my playstation didnt even recognize Sony media, which I found odd due to the playstation being made by Sony. I am now using TDK dvd+R 8x also just bought some Verbatim DVD+R 16x. Does it matter having
DVD-R or DVD+R?

Thanks

no it doesn't matter using dvd+r for the v.7 or higher(verbatim is better)just remember to burn at the lowest speed.

lowest speed doesn't apply on quality brand like verbatim or Ritek G04. I've been burning at 4x for a while now and all the disc are working proves to me that the speed only matter (may be) if you're using crappy brand like Memorex.

I honestly think DVD Decrypter is nothing compared to Alcohol 120%. The only time you really need Decrypter is when you need to patch images that need a disc id for online play. Or when an image needs to be rebuilt when it doesn't work with both progs. Although you might waste a blank disc if it doesn't work, so check here at the forums before you make a copy to see what's up.

I read numerous posts about people rebuilding Star Wars: Battlefront. The reason they had to rebuild it was because they made the ISO with Decrypter and the TOC size it turned out to be was around 8GB. Using A120 on the other hand, A120 gave it's original size, I don't remember the size right off the bat, but it fits on a DVD-5 with nothing special needed. Talk about a big waste of time rebuilding the image when it didn't need to be.

I have never had a problem with DVD Decrypter with games. I just got my hands on the Area 51 and I'll post back later to let you know how it came out.

Hi All
I have used + and - for both my ps2's a version 6 with duose2 installed and a v12 using swap magic 3.3 without either of them having any problems booting them when using good quality media, the problems started when using crap media. I always burn at x4 speed on a NEC2500 flashed to 2510a Dl. yes i have backed up sahdow of Rome for swap magic without any problems, just make the dummy file smaller, if you are in the UK send me a PM and i will send you a copy ( providing you have the original)
Hope this Helps

Area 51 should back up just fine, and yes if you want to play online you need to patch it.
V7 PS2 can play both +R and -R media
but i find it does better with -R on mine.
Having good media is a key when you back up games
DVD Decrypter is the best program i have found for backing them up. It is free and they update it often to keep it current.
You can always try rebuilding the ISO to fix audio/video problems, but most of the time is is due to bad media you burn it on.
I burn all my games on either TDK 4X DVD-R or Philips 8X DVD-R
at 4X and they work every time.

Oh yeah, I didn't mean to come off as bashing DVD Decrypter, it's just my experience lol.

I use Memorex too, good brand.

Just to let people know, + or - it all depends on your own ps2, my ps2 is a V4 and +'s work better on it for me. I have over 50 backups on verbatim dvd+r's that have never had a problem with slow loading or anything. I have about 5 backups it verbatim dvd-r's and get skipping all the time. so yes older ps2's have been known to not like +'s but test out your ps2 for it!
