Your thread said; burn successful however, playback is stuttered. I asked; have you tried it on any other dvd player beside yours? Perhaps, you may want to update the dvd player's firmware to the latest if available? This can help to support playback and other media compatibility in some case. Have you updated your dvd burner's firmware recently? What's the speed you're backing up with on Nero, and have you tried any other media such as FUJI and TY?
I mean seriously, you can backed it up successfully but only the playback is the problem. This is a possibility of a dvd player or media issue to me.

When I said 'Burn Successful', I was repeating the message that I beleive Nero puts up on screen following the burn procedure. Sorry if that has been interpreted by some to mean that I was happy with the burnt disc produced.
Earlier on in this thread, Craig from Nero has pointed out that this is a software issue as it is occuring even if the file is not burnt to media.
To answer your question though, yes I have tried on two different software players (PowerDVD and Nero Showtime2) as well as a PS2 and standard set top player.
I have updated my burners firmware following Ricks suggestion at the start of the thread.
Thanks again for you suggestions.

drno68,
Are you using a legitimate copy of Nero? Speaking from experience for some strange reason cracked/ keygen Nero serials are what may be the cause of the problem when encoding. If not sorry thought that may be an issue I didn't see addressed. Secondly try using vsoavi2dvd. The software creates a audio and a video file (preferably create a new folder on your desktop so you don't forget where your new files are at). Then use Nero vision express to burn to dvd. Seems like alot but should burn with no problem.

Here is what other members whom has had similar issue with Nero, but it's on "Nero Recode," somehow they've managed to solve the problem by renaming a file. I've got the newest Nero 6 Ultra Edition(upgraded version 6.6.0.12 & VisionExpress 3.1.0.0 with Nero Burning Rom, Vision, Nero Express, Recode, ShowTime, etc.) and I don't remember seeing any Nero Reloaded. In your first post, you've stated that you're using "Nero Reloaded"??
This may not be similar to your issue, but it's worth to take a look at. This is what "Michi90" said from the DVD Ripping section:
I found this solution.
But on my system it's the 'dvddisc.dll' (to rename or delete).
I'm using ME.
Maybe XP users should delete/rename 'ndvddisc.dll'
and 9X/ME users the 'dvddisc.dll' instead."

"Dhoward" in the DVD Ripping section said the same thing. Here's what he did and it solved his problem. Again, this is on "Nero Recode."
I have found a fix for my above mentioned problem. Based on what other people have done, I renamed the ndvddisc.dll to *.bak. This fixed the problem. Thanks to all for this work around.

Thank you both for your input.
Alkhol, regarding the 'Reloaded' query, I had Nero 6 Ultra and updated with the free updates at the Nero site to what they are referring to as 'Nero 6 Reloaded'. Apparently the free updates (four packages in total) update the Ultra to the new Reloaded.

Matt,
Thanks for your suggested file. I am familiar with VSO DivxtoDVD and use it regularly. It could not convert this particular file without sudio sinc issues.
I will try to locate the one you suggested.

Hi Drno68,
I too would recommend uninstalling the InCD 4 software, as a few users have found it to conflict with our Nero Vision software every now and then.
Also, your Nero InfoTool log shows that you have Sonic's MyDVD installed. Normally we do not have any problems with this software, but to rule it out as a possible cause, you'll need to uninstall this software.
The log file also shows you have Padus software, and we have no conflicts with this.
And last you have a VOB software, which is known to conflict with our software on occasion, among others, so you may wish to uninstall this just as a test as well.
And last, it would be good to test other Source Video files to see if we are having trouble with only these two files. As others have mentioned, NVE can have trouble with some codecs. An issue I've seen with all Authoring programs at one time or another.

Craig,
Thank you for getting back to me again. I have now uninstalled INCD4 and will uninstall MyDVD as suggested.
I do not know if you wanted me to remove the 'Padus' software? I do not know what that is (sorry Newbie).
Also I do not know what the VOB software is that you referred to. All I understand a VOB to be is a file that is used in making a DVD. If you have any idea what that program would be please tell me, or give me some clues so that I may be able to work out what it would be.
When I first read your message I was at work and could not reply. At that time I was going to report that I had used Recode 2 successfully to back up a friends music DVD for him. It seemed to work like a dream. However I have since watched sections of the DVD to find that the beginning is perfect and the image starts to pixelate towards the end. It may just be media, I will retry with TDK disc, rather than the one he provided.
Back to the problem at hand however. You mentioned trying other files. I have used NeroVision Express 3 (NVE) to make a disc with some small files derived from home video footage. I wrote the files to a folder on the hard drive and played them back in both PowerDVD and Nero Showtime. They both works faultlessly.
Is is possible that the issue is just with Xvid conversion?
Thanks again for your continued attention to my problem.
PS: should I use the CleanTools from Nero to remove any reminents for InCD4 from my system or will the Uninstall be enough?
Having not used it before, will that tool affect other components of Nero?

Hi Drno68,
The General Clean tool allows you to remove just those programs you select, and does not affect any of the other programs. All of the Nero programs are modular.
Or you can just use the InCD Clean tool which is only for that program. Here is the link.
Nero.com/enu/InCD_Clean_Tool.html" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://ww2.Nero.com/enu/InCD_Clean_Tool.html
Padus is a duplication software, it allows you to write to more than one drive at a time to mass produce discs. I see a driver on your system from this program. Which means it is either on your system, or once was. We do not have trouble with padus, so no need to take any steps in regards to this program.
NTI and VOB are also Recording software such as Nero and Sonic's MyDVD. Not sure if you still have these two programs, or only have their drivers in the upper and lower filters. I would recommend that you also use our Registry and Driver clean tool to address these issues as well, just in case they are affecting your system. Use the below link for these two tools.
Nero.com/enu/Driver_Clean_Tool_and_RegistryChecker.html" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://ww2.Nero.com/enu/Driver_Clean_Tool_and_RegistryChecker.html

Craig,
I have downloaded these tools as you suggested.
I have run the InCd clean tool. That should now be taken care of.
Prior to running the Driver Cleaner and Registry Cleaner, does the program give warning as to what programs the drivers it is removing are related to. My concern (being a novice) is that it may just remove anything that it determines to be a threat to Nero without user input. This action may render useless a vital part of my system. I am sorry if this sounds overly dramatic, but with my limited understanding of drivers, without them software and hardware are both pretty useless I thought.
I am just being cautious.
Thanks again for your continued assistance.

Further to my previous reply, here is a list of multimedia programs that I am aware of on my system:
Nero 6 Reloaded (obviously)
Sonic MyDVD 5
Microsoft Media Player
Adobe Photoshop 6
Canopus Procoder
Adobe Premier 6.5 (which includes the Mainconcept Encoder)
DVD Decrypter
VSO DivxToDVD
Kodak EasyShare
Pinnacle Instant Copy Version 8
DVD Shrink
Avisynth 2.5 (didn't even realise I had that)
Please notify of any known conflicts.
Thanks.

Hi Drno68,
It's always best to be careful. :-)
Our Driver cleaner tool will only remove drivers from other Recording programs. And only if those programs are no longer installed on your system.
The Registry checker only removes drivers from the upper and lower filters.
In your case, you should uninstall Sonic's MyDVD and Pinnacles Instant Copy. And then reboot and run our Driver Cleaner and Registry cleaner.
This is only to rule them out as a possible conflict. IF you find that NeroVision still has trouble after you do this, then we have ruled them out as the cause, and you can reinstall them.

Craig,
Thanks for that. It may have seemed like an obvious question, I just wanted to be sure.
Again I really appreciate your help.
Oh and I have rerun Recode2 on my firends Music DVD and it worked perfectly. The problem was the disc. Again used one of my TDKs and it worked as it should.
I have to say that on a whole I am mightly impressed with this program.

Craig,
To keep you up to date, I have done the following items:
1. Uninstalled; Sonic MyDVD, Pinnacle Instant Copy, EyeMail, several Photo programs, and PowerDVD.
2. I than ran the CleanTools, Driver and Registry Checker.
3. I than rebooted and went into NVE 3 to try one of my Xvid AVI files again.
4. The project was written to the hard drive.
Unfortunately the footage was choppy. It is choppy in exactly the same place each time. Within the first 1 minute that is. Obviously I don't continue watching after it has done the freeze restart thing twice (choppy).
Bit by bit possible issues are obviously be eliminated.
Thanks again for your persistance.

Hi Drno68,
Have you run GSpot on the Xvid file to see how it was created?
Do you have trouble with other Xvid files?
Did you download this from some site? If you did, can you provide me the link so I can download it and see if I have the same issues with this file(s)?

sounds like a bunch of corrupt files to me,
have you tried using other app' to convert the avi
like vso's dvixtodvd???,this will drop out the dodgy packets
then burn it the video ts folders with clonedvd2,
i only use Nero when vso's doesnt accept the files,as it takes twice as long, and the quality is sometimes questionable.
using tdk media, especially dvd+r,maybe the problem, who actually made the disk's,whats the id code??
try using dvd-r
nero,as i have mentioned before is good for some, but a nightmare for others, with it being littered with bugs and issues with compatibity with using other app' on the pc.
i would try other app',just for now,see if you can get it working

Hursty,
I have successfully converted the files using VSO DivxToDVD. I didn't understand why I could and Nero couldn't.
I was trying to find out if Nero could do this task for me. I have one file in this format which DivxToDVD could not convert with the audio in sinc. Nero does do it with the audio in sinc, but the playback is choppy even when written to hard drive and played back from there (ie no media issue).
Thank you for your input.

Craig,
The files were obtained from a BitTorrent site (provided to you via other means so as not to break the Forum Rules as i understand them).
I will run GSpot (when I work out how) and post the report if that is possible.
I will also create an Xvid file from one of my own video clips and try it on NVE. It may take a few days however, as I have never created my own Xvid file before. May take a little research to see how I do it with the programs I have (which were listed a couple of replys back).
Thanks again,
DrNo68

Hursty,
Thanks a lot for that link to the audio sinc guide. I have added it to my favourites.
I will need to read over it a couple of more times before I can understand completely but I can see that I should pick it up pretty quick.
Thanks again.
Oh, and as I mentioned before, in an earlier thread, the both the MainConcept H.264 Encoder and Nero are able to convert the file that otherwise ends up with an audio sinc problem. However I do not have the full version of the MC (only trial/test version) and as such it leaves a water mark on the entire footage, and Nero unfortunately has a choppy problem when dealing with Xvid on my system at this point in time.
The Xvid version of the AVI plays perfectly by the way. The audio sinc occurs when I conver the file to VOB using DivxToDVD or Canopus Procoder.
Thanks again for the suggestions.

Craig,
Following on from your suggestion, I created an Xvid AVI from some personal video footage. Using NVE 3 I used that AVI file to create a DVD and wrote the subsequent file to the hard drive (rather than burn to disc and end up with a possible media problem).
The Xvid file converted and played back perfectly. There was no sign of Choppy playback. This file did only include video as it had been edited in Premier 6.5 and the Video and Audio is saved as seperate files. I used VirtualDub to convert the file to Xvid AVI from Mpeg, but only managed to import the video file (I am not that suffisticated yet).
Anyway, the bottom line is that NVE 3 successfully converted the file from Xvid AVI to DVD format without Choppy playback.
It would appear that the problem lies within the downloaded 'BitTorrent' Xvid files.
For the information of others reading this file, I am able to convert the 'BitTorrent' Xvid files using VSO DivxToDVD. The point of the exercise of late has become to examine whether NeroVision Express 3 could also be made to convert these files and burn in one operation.
Craig, I will be interested to hear how you go with similar files using NVE.
Hear from you later.

Your problem as listed in the "movies jumping on playback " thread, sounds very similar to those discussed in this thread.
May I suggest that you read over this thread (particularly the entries made by Craig as he works for 'Nero').
It would seem at this stage that Nero Vision Express 3 as a problem with Xvid AVI files obtained from BitTorrent style sites.
Hope this helps.
