What a daft question, why would people use it if it caused damage? It will be fine providing you use it correctly.

Mine has been fine although I have not had it that long.

I would worry about that. Just make sure you correctly but everything backin place with the slide tool before you start the game up.

If there is anything you can mess up, it's those little gears in there. And if that happens, I hear it's easy to open up and fix with your hands.

there is a chance that you can damage the ps2 with the slide card but the actual swap card wont actually hurt the ps2. but what can happen with backups with the new ps2s is that they burn the lens because the lens doesnt focus right on the backup. but this hasnt happend to me yet... so if you have an older ps2 (nonSlimline) and you use a slide card you can potentially damage your ps2.

theres always some risk when you mod your ps2.
