I have been trying for several weeks to burn a dvd home video and i can not figure it out. I have a digital camcorder that runs off a memory stick and when i load it into my lap top it pops up and i open it using windows then i had to save it to my deskop then i sent it to windows media player then i sent it to movie maker to make it then tryed to burn using nero and i have not had any success. i think the problem is the it is a mpeg format and i need to convert it but i do not know how. if anybody could help it would be greatly appreciated

hi

did you test it on a dvd player?

going to need more info on what errors or the procedure how you burnrt it? like what app you used to burn?

did you place all files in a folder called VIDEO_TS ? and burn the folder in dvd mode?

also was the resulting files from divxtodvd smaller than 4.36gig? if not dvd shrink will shrink to fit!

but for now the files divxtodvd made load these to dvd shrink (free app) if it loads then its 99.9% good to go and will burn...

now if you get dvd decrypter also free and set dvd shrink to use dvd decrypter to burn it should be ok...

now the discs you use and the players are another issue! but let me know as much as you can!

also to note i think digital cameras use +VR and -VR mpeg? they are abit different to normal mpeg2 dvd compliant, i think 1 stays open for edit and the other is closed??????? i think nero visionexpress would handle these...

but go the easy route at top first...

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

the first thing i did was put my memory chip in my laptop. then i opened it with movie maker and made it into a movie. then i opened Nero and tryed to burn it in video image files. i chose the file out of my documents and tryed to burn it but when i get to the burn option it is greyed out. after that didnt work i downloaded the divxtodvd and tryed converting it but i dont think it converted it successfully. i then opened Nero back up and tryed downloading it out of that file but again it does not work. however last night i did have a little bit more progress of jus tryin to get the burner to work. i went to the copy disc option to copy a dvd that i had just to check and c if it works. it says burning and when it gets done all it does is burn it onto my saved documents i cant get it out of those saved documents onto a disc. i am sorry this probly dont make much sense but i am totally lost with this. i called gateway last night and told them the problem and they just said they were going to send me a new burner instead of troubleshootin so that might b the problem but if you can tell me how to take screenshots and get them in this messages i will try doin that so you can c them or i have a remote assistance on my comp. where you could possible take a look at it yourself

Hi

getting pictures...

1, get the app up on screen then press "print screen" button on keyborad and it takes a picture of your desktop all of it, then open windows paint and paste it in, then cut out the bit you need and make a new file in paint and paste it in, then save to a folder as GIF its smaller..

2, upload the picture to a website of your chioce and keep the URL link safe...

3 use these image tag to put a picture on afterdawn here!

[*img*]http://www.theurl.com/YOUR-PICTURE.GIF[*/*img*]

(remove the 5 *'s then close gaps, then the picture will load in front of you on afterdawn)

--------------------------------------

never heard of movie maker so nero may not be compatible????

go back to divxtodvd and try again when you think its finished remember the link you put into divxtodvd where the files are going! like...

EG: C:\CONVERTED\blar blar blar

infact make a folder called that so you know where it is!

then after divxtodvd has finished 1 or 2 hours later!!!!!

see if out of the vob/ifo/bup files it created that the vob by itself will play in powerdvd or or another dvd players for testing!

or test by loading to dvd shrink! it it loads its probably ok! and burn as above!!
