I am new at this. Installed lastest ver. of DVD shrink and DVD decrypter. REad all instructions but still having problems burning a DVD after using DVD shrink. DVD decryter mode ISO "write". Source is on C drive under VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS from DVD shrink. Problem is DVD decrypter under "files of tpye" will not except DVD_VIDEO file name. Can some one tell me what I am doing wrong and what I should do next.

Hi pgs2008,

Rip the dvd with DVD Decrypter in file mode first. Click mode in the menu on top then click file. After the rip open DVD Shrink and click on open files, locate and load your file. After you click backup a new menu pops up, click on target device then in the select target dropdown menu select ISO file and burn with DVD Decrypter. Here are some good guides.

There is no need for anydvd. When you rip with shrink, you have to make a ISO image in order for decrypter to burn it to your disc. The only time you will need to use decrypter first is to rip the new sony/tristar releases,(since mid December) then you use shrink (open disc image, not open files or open disc)to compress(if needed) the image, and then burn the new ISO with decrypter.

What movie are you trying to backup? The only way you can use DVD Decrypter to make a copy without any other software is if the original dvd is 4.38GB or less. If so you can read ISO then write ISO.

Mort81, Thanks. I over looked that option. I was about to go crazy. Again thanks it worked. I got more question. The last movie I try to burn the DVD Shrink had a error in the middle of copying an image on Hard drive. I think its because of copy right thing. Is there any way to bypass this?

pgs2008,

DVD decrypter should take care of about 99% of css encryption problems. I run AnyDVD in the background to insure all the css encryptions are broken. AnyDVD is retail software and costs $39 US but has a fully functional 3 week free trial. What error are you getting? There have been a lot reports of rescent new dvd's having flaws. Could be a bad or damaged original.

@pgs
i agree with mort here. a lot of recent threads are about people saying they are beginning to get errors. i have experienced these as well. ithink it is just bad pressings, becasue after returning and getting new ones, it usually works. just sometimes we get "bad batches" where a bunch of them had been poorly pressed.

Mort81,
Thanks for all your help. The error was fixed this time by using decryter first then shrink then decryter. I brought Nero yesterday and plan to use it. I will be looking into getting AnyDVD. Again, thanks.

pgs2008,

Glad to be of assistance. I don't think you will be disappointed with AnyDVD since it runs entirely in the background thus eliminting the need to rip with dvd decryptor on most backups and backup apps. Feel free to join in other threads and post your experiences and preferances. We're all learning and teaching. Good luck.

Mort81,

Agree, learning a lot. Tried Nero but the program screwed up my computer. Going to buy AnyDVD cause newer movies are burning well. lots of problems. Take care and thanks again.

That was newer movies are not burning well. Decryter is stopping at around 80%.

pgs2008,
If DVDDecrypter is giving you errors try cleaning the disk real well then re-rip the DVD in file mode to HD. If it does it again then either there are scratches there or it is a bad press and you now have to exchange the DVD for another one at the store you got it at.

I do not try to rip and burn at the same time. I have found nearly 100% clean burns by first ripping the entire disk with Decrypter to my hard disk, then using shrink with Nero burner. When there is an encoding or reading problem, cleaning the disk usually fixes it or just re-booting and clearing the computer's memory. Yesterday, I sent back my first "bad" movie disk for a return (an old movie, probably rented a million times) after the first two steps didn't work. It was the first time in 6 months. All other movies--including newly encoded ones--copy and burn easily with this process. Shrink also works much faster when burning files from the HD. When I get a good burn, I just delete the movies files from the HD.

Just started...newbie here.

I did my first 2 last night.

Had some prblems with getting DVDShrink to see drive D: after ripping with DVDD.

So, here is what I did. Ripped movie in Shrink, Re-Author and then backed up using Nero. Both came out extremely well and fast. About 40 minutes per DVD.

Thanks & Good Luck.

I have had situations where shrink didn't see my drive. Close and opening program sometimes help. Just to save time, however, I just reboot.

u need to burn the mds file, yes. somehow i always pick the iso file and it works. eveeryone says u need 2 burn the mds, but my mds are always like xxkb, and the iso is X.xxgb, so obvioulsly the iso is the movie. using decrypter it will select it automatically 4 u. so dont worry.
