HT isnt worth the advertising it is billed on ;)

i got a new HP gfx workstation @ work and it was 'with HT inside yadda yadda' and the bios didnt even have it enabled ;)

it will deffo work - just nowhere near as well as a desktop with 1/2 those specs :)

CCE = make you cry :) (worth it in the end tho!)

hello76,
Welcome to the forum. It would be nice if the ram could be increased but it will do the movie. It just might take a little longer and be careful about the heat that the laptops will put out as the CPU will heat up during the encoding process using CCE. That is the one problem w/ laptops is the heat build up and the slow HD's

hello76 ,
Most laptops have slow HD's (some as slow as 4200). Since we do not know what your HD's speed is this is a general statement. My 3.2 laptop is slower than my standalone tower(2.8) but that is because the laptop does not utilize hyper-threading and the HD is a 7200 vs a 10,000 for the tower. Try it and if you do not like the times borrow an External from a friend and see if that speeds you up but remember it only will transfer data as fast as the cable and USB port will allow it to.
Now if you had one of the gaming laptops w/ all the special cooling features and great HD's now you would be in the ball game. Those systems are extremely expensive but they must be worth it for the gamers
