Just wanted to say I ran across this site earlier and noticed it was filled to the gills with info. I am just starting to do PS2 backups and noticed that Decrypter will even work on those and that I can still use Shrink to compress if needed? Cool! After reading reviews of the Alcohol 120%, I may even try using it for cd backups.

I've been using Decrypter/Shrink for over a year now and never really had issues with them, just a very few issues with bad media. I was glad to find this site, as I thought I would have to buy some game backup software, but it seems not.

Decrypter works great for ps games. You can't use shrink, though. Alcohol is also great, plus decrypter won't read cd based games (it'll burn them, though)

What would one use to compress dvd games if needed? Can Alcohol do that too?

You cant shrink or compress dvd games.
If they are dvd9 format they have to be re-built,
and/or split in some instances.
But 99% of all games will copy with dvd decrypter alone.
The other 1% are dvd9 games that require rebuilding.

Good luck :)

Ah, so most DVD games will fit on one disc? Cool. If I ran into any that were dual-layer I would probably just burn them on dual layer.

Then I'll just avoid dual layered discs. Hopefully they aren't that common.

So far as I heard, only GT4 and Art of Warriors are DL DVD games.

Anyone knows other DL games, please add to the list.
