I backed up The Odyssey and Casino,which are exactly 3 hrs each with english audio only,main movie only. However,The Odyssey required only 70 percent compression,while Casino required 56 percent. Since these movies are the exact same length,should'nt they require the same amount of compression? Just wondering. A similar thing happened when I backed up Metropolis,which is about 2 hrs,and it was less that 3 gb with no compression.

It all depends on how much space (bytes) the original files are. Some movies are encoded from the manufacturer better (higher bitrate) than others.
