I don't know much about video, and I won't pretend to. But please be gentle. I was wondering, can I create an mpeg or avi from an iso file?

I recently ripped a DVD of mine to extract some videos that are in there. I used DVDShrink to extract the videos, but it created one iso file. If I can convert that to mpeg or avi, I can extract the songs themselves with VirtualDub. I just want the songs from the videos and I thought this is the best way to do that. If I am wrong and there is a better way or if this will not work, please advise. Thanx in advance for the help.

If you just want the Audio from the DVD then here is a way to get it...

First use a program Like "ISO Buster" to extract the Files from the ISO File...

Then download a Program called "DVD2AVI 1.77" and Load the "VOB" files (These will be most of the Files you extracted from the ISO) Into the Program in the Correct order (You will be able to see the Video in the Screen so you can Figure out the correct order for the VOB files)..

When you have the Files loaded in correctly go to "audio" to "Output Method" and set it to " Demux All Tracks"...Now go to "File" to "Save project" and save it and in a couple of minutes you will have a Dolby Digital AC3 audio file waiting for you were you saved it to, This is the Whole audio Track for the Entire Movie.....

You could also Mount the ISO file to a Virtual drive and then use the "Stream Processing" settings in "SmartRipper" to Rip out the Audio Track that you want.....

Cheers

But then what do i do with the audio track of the WHOLE movie? The audio I want isn't in the movie, it's in the special features. Thanx so far.

The "AC3" is a Dolby Digital Audio File so if you can not Play the File then it is because you do not have the Correct codec installed to playback the File....

Install a Software DVD Player Like "PowerDVD" or "WinDVD" and it will install the Correct decoder for Dolby AC3 Playback....

You could also install this:

http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/

After Installing use Media Player to play the File....

You can also use "DVD2AVI" to extract the audio as a Wav file by selecting the "Decode to Wav" option in the Audio Settings.....

I don"t know why the audio Quality would be Crap unless you converted it to something like MP3 useing a Low bitrate...

The Conversion from AC3 to Wav format is 100% Lossless because wav format is Uncompressed so you shouldn"t loose any Quality...

Maybe try a different AC3 decoder/Encoder program as I have allways had problems with Besweet..What I usually use to convert AC3 to wav is either "Headac3he" or "PX3 Converter" but of which are good but PX3 is faster and easier to use but it only converts to Wav format....
