Taiyo Yuden Printable Surface is Washed Out?

I bought a Canon PIXMA printer yesterday and it came with free piece of TDK CD-R made in Japan. A quick scan confirmed it was made by Taiyo Yuden.

After printing on it it came out very washy with very greyish blacks and washed out colours.

I usually use Ritek Inkjet Printable CD-R and the colours are much richer and the blacks are truer.

Has anyone else had this experience or is it down to the printer?

Using an Epson R200 inkjet printer, I just printed the same text and graphics on a Taiyo Yuden hub printable and a Ritek/Ridata hub printable. I saw no discernable difference. The only real difference between the two is the Taiyo Yuden hub area is more translucent than the hub area of the Ritek/Ridata.

Ridata disks by far have a much nice printing surface than any other printable discs ive ever seen or used..I use both Yuden and Ridata and perfer the ridata any day over the yuden for printing quality on my r200.
