Just gettin started on burning trend...tried shrink with roxio v6, and just could not figure it out for the life of me...i recently tried 1 click dvd and also dvd43free as the decrypter...very successly except for the fact that they only give me 3 free copies...the full version is 60 bucks and i am extremely thrifty...any advise at all, anything cheaper...anything free???
will dvd43free work with nero possibly...if so which version and where can i find it

I believe that DvdShrink and Roxio have always had problems working together. Uninstall Roxi0 and use DvdShrink with Nero -- which is what I would do. Believe me, Nero is definitely work the money and you can find an OEM version online cheap. Actually, before you do that, you can download Nero here at afterdawn and use it totally free for a while... That will give you the sense of if you like it or not. Alternatively, use DvdShrink with DvdDecrypter.

you're the man russ...anyway what version of Nero would you suggest...i found version 6 at wal-mart but it was 80 bucks. Do i need an advanced version or can i stick with the simple shit. Also do i need shrink, or can i use Nero with dvd43free. does sonic record(standard dell software) just blow or is it just me

chaddy, download Nero here under software, try it and then buy ,you dont have to buy it at wal-mart and whats great about Nero it updates to the newest verison so it never get outdated and yes you will need DVD Shrink with dvd43free BUT i was you i would use AnyDVD its a much better program and most us use it on this site and it works well with DVD Shrink and you can try it for like 21 days before buying it. ITS A GREAT PROGRAM .also if you want to use something really EASY try using AnyDVD in the background with DVDCopy3 or dvdclone2 its great for beginners or anybody for that matter. iam using DVDCopy3 with AnyDVD myself and the quality is unbeatable and so easy. good luck and happy burning

so will AnyDVD work directly with Nero or will i also have to use shrink (i hate to use shrink cause it does backup 4 1/2 gigs to my hd)

it will but you have to compress the movie to get it on a DVD-5, AnyDVD decrypts the movies.anf if your using shrink you can delete it from youir harddrive after you burn or you can use other programs that DONT tranfer it to your harddrive AT ALL ,the ones i metioned in my first post work well DVDCopy3 with AnyDVD in the background or Clonedvd2 with AnyDVD in the background,either program wont backup the files to your harddrive and there very easy to use and like i said iam using DVDCopy3 with AnyDVD you can try both as a trial before you buy. hope theis helps

AnyDVD works very well with Nero or any other program. You can get Nero online for 80 bucks, whihc is the best money you'll spend for software. AnyDVD also works with DVD9, so does DVD Shrink. You just need a DL burner. Nero supports DVD DL burning, as well. AnyDVD works as a decrypter for mostcommercial DVD's.

I'm TOTALLY with mj013 on this one: "Use DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink."
I didn't realize Nero was going for $80! (Eke!) My version of Nero came OEM with my burner when I bought it.
I'm not sure if DVDCopy3 is all that much more superior to DVDshrink. If I was going to go after quality (and wanted to spend some money instead of using free software), I'd go with DVD-RB/CCE.
But, I like the free stuff... and it does a pretty freaking great job.. and until I get plasma (and even thereafter) it's doubtful I'll notice any difference. ;-)

Russ DVDCopy3 is a little easier to use for beginners thats why i told him about it and the quality of it is first class and he didnt want the files on his harddrive . i have used them all and like DVDCopy3 with AnyDVD the best so far.Maybe you should try it

DVD43 is really free, see the officail web site ..http://www.dvd43.com/ but in this world there's scallywags', try'n to steal a dime. :)
Roxio/Nero is a bad combination, well, most the top guys in AD reckon, there's a Roxio removal tool, to be used after deletion.
Likewise a Nero tool, get rid of both, and re-install nero.
get some re-write discs' and practice the guides by Scubapete, and bbymayo.
[I've been a member for the last 9 or 10 months now, and I think; the only question I've asked... "Is whur's the ladies?]

The oem version of nero is my main burn engine. Nero 6.0.0.21b to be exact.I also have nero oem on my backup pc. Nero works with dvd shrink on 90% of my backups.Sometimes it does get flaky,though the nero cleantool6 usually takes care of that.
I also agree with gringle on the roxio clashing with nero. It's the packets: Nero- INCD and Roxio-Drag to disc. I know you don't want to download the Nero Incd from your disc,if I am not mistaken,it may cause problems.
I still need dvd decrypter on those tougher newer encryptions.A very handy program and an extra burn engine you can flirt around with.
Get a couple of rw's and when you get her licked, then use some quality plus or dash r media. You may even want to try a small batch of each to see which format your stand alone player/s will play them.Some of them do have trouble playing some of the dvd formats.

Thanks fellas....anyone know if Nero 6 can be registered to 2 different computers. Also are maxell dvd+r's shitters? cause i got a few bad burns using shrink, with DVD43 with "copytodvd" (came with 1click) Is it my disks or my software. So dvddecrypter will replace DVD43 and AnyDVD with replace shrink right. (in the process of gettin Nero 6)
Ps sorry that my slang is off like i said earlier...just gettin into the game

Chaddy- ya know, I've had trouble with 'maxwell' and 'memorex'. Mind
you, not all of the discs were bad (max/mem). I've learned to buy
a better brand of DVD's, because it saves (my) time and trouble.
Being new to 'burning',as you said you are, I'd start with the better brands until you're used to doing it. Use RW's to conserve on money.
