I have done everything I have been told to do using dvd decrypter to burn dvd-r back-ups but they aren't working. The cd-r's work but the dvd-r's don't can someone explain in detail what to do or what might help.I am using an optorite dvd burner with dvd decrypter version 3.5.1.0 . I got my info on how to burn from gamescopytutor.Please help if you can.I will do what I can to make it up to you.I have spent close to $400.00 on equipment and about 1 year trying to figure it out. I have a magic 3.1 no swap mod.

could be a lot of things, like sly said we need more info.
Could be the media you use, the speed you burn, the chip itself.
what kind of DVD'd are you using(brand and speed)
what is the process you use to burn them?
Does the chip have a disable feature that may have been touched?
DVD Decrypter is very simple
put in original
go to Mode->ISO->Read
put in a blank
Go to Mode->ISO->Write
so it is hard to mess it up.
I also assume that you have a DVD burner (writer). Not just a DVD Rom drive that plays DVD's.

Any help will be appreciated.

When I put in the dvd-r back up the playstation 2 logo doesn't appear. When I do cd-r back ups I have to hold the reset button for different amounts of time to get them to come on. Usually about 1-2 seconds.

You cant use RW media.
Also memorex outsources to many different vendors (they dont make there own media).
Typically you will have problems with Memorex.
Get better media (+r or -r)
I find my ps2 likes +r media better.
Burn at 2x speed.

The following list is in preference order..
Almost flawless burns with 95-100% reliable results:
MXLRG01, MXLRG02 = Maxell = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
MCC = Mitsubishi Chemicals = (-R)<-----------------VERBATIM MY CHOICE #1
TDKG02 = TDK Corp = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
TAIYOYUDEN or YUDEN = Taiyo Yuden = (-R)<--------------FUJIFILM (made in japan) MY CHOICE #2

I have used dvd+r but they was memorex also. My cdr backups work no matter what kind I use.Could it be my optowrite burner? I have used other brand dvds but can't recall what kind. Is the brands usually the problem?

cdrs are ps1. I thought they wasn't working at first (kept getting red screen) but if I hold the reset button for about 1 sec and let go they work fine. Can't do that with dvd format games.Nothing happens.

thats probably because most modchips have a ps1 and ps2 mode.when in ps1 mode you cant play ps2 games and vice versa.check up on your modchip(look for their hompage) to see how to get it in ps2 mode.
damn,i dont even have a modchip and i know more than people who do have one.(just kiddin ya)

It just says to go to stand by mode to switch between ps1 ps2 and dvd format. Doesn't say to do anything to change the mod mode. It is an old magic 3.1.
