through ftp...there are a few different ways to connect your xbox to your pc.

1. through a router: use standard cat5 cable
2. directly to your pc: use cat5 crossover cable

set up your network settings on your pc and xbox, start your ftp client(flashfxp, coreftp, etc...) and start transfering stuff.

here is sort of a picture on how to network your xbox to your pc

http://evox.xboxhackz.net/evox/guides/body_basic_networking.html...

1.6 xbox
x3
dual hd's
seagate 300gig hd
seagate 100gig notebook hd

Halo2 LE(the blue case)

x3/x3 control panel/x3 lcd
400gig seagate
blue/green eject light
white controller port lights

Ok so i have the cross over cable and the pc and the moded out xbox with evo x and i downloaded the flash program but when i look at the model that you have here http://evox.xboxhackz.net/evox/guides/body_basic_networking.html.
It says you have to have a NIC card in there. is that in my modded out xbox already or do i have to buy it before i can transfer media from my pc to my xbox? and if i get one where do i plug it in?

the NIC in question will be in your PC,and you can use any ethernet jack on your PC for this. Just configure it according to the tutorial.

Could not be simpler
====================
xbox settings...within evox
use a static 192.168.0.3
subnet 255.255.255.0..........that's it..don't change anything else
==============================
pc settings assuming your using xp
goto network connections
right click on your lan connection..then properites
double click on the tcp/ip
click on use the following ip address.
then enter
ip address 192.168.0.2(if you tab it will auto calculate the subnet)
subnet 255.255.255.0
click on "ok" then "ok"
===========================
reboot xbox....done...
=============================
You can use any ftp client if you want...remember not to use passive mode....but you can simply open your browser and drag the files..just as fast...
ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.0.3
you will see the files on your xbox...
======================================
if you are backing up your own games...
make sure autolaunch is "not" set to "yes" for games or dvd
if so you will lose connection with your pc
click and drag the whole d:\ over to pc...
hth
;)

Umm, How do you get on the net? Cable modem?

A Ethernet card is a card that you use to get online.

http://www.macsense.com/images/product/FE-551.jpg

See that thing that looks like a phone jack? Thats a ethernet port.

Look for one on the back of your pc.

If you dont have one (hehe), Go buy one, They are really cheap.

Then get a crossover cable, Not a direct connect cable, They are different. To tell the differences, Just look at the orientations of the wires on the ends. Hold them up side-by-side (IE: RED, BROWN, YELLOW, BLUE in the same orientation is a direct-connect, But if they are different on each end, Like RED, BROWN, YELLOW, BLUE and then RED, YELLOW, BROWN, BLUE, Then thats a crossover).

Sorry zanycoqet ..
If you don't know the difference between ethernet and usb ...
Trust me you really want someone else to do this for you
Just look at the back of the pc
Does the ethernet cord you have...resemble any holes back there?
Do yourself a favour and READ this link in it's entirety
http://www.chefelf.com/xbox/networking.php
You should probably consider not YELLING in a post begging for help...
It cuts down on the help you probably really deserve.

I honestly wasn?t meaning to yell at anyone I was merely being boisterous... I found the Ethernet plug in, in the back of my computer... My husband said we have a crossover cable... I didn?t look at it to know it was an Ethernet cord and not a usb like cord... he is too lazy to actually figure out the specifics... so I?m trying to. He watched our friend load stuff on my xbox before but we haven?t done it our self?s... I have lots of good movies on here that I want to put on my xbox but I don?t know how I appreciate everyone?s patience with me and answering my sometimes not so intelligent questions thank you for giving me the links and information i was looking for and if I need help I know where to look :) (afterdawn)
and fantom I connect with dsl and a external modem and i should have connected to the modem with the ethernet cord but I dont its connected with a usb cable so the ethernet port on the back of my pc is avalible, and I'll use it :)

Sorry to hijack this thread, but i'm trying to do the same thing. I sent my xbox off to get modded and it has come back and when I start it up it says "EVO X" in a pink triangle in the top left hand corner of the screen. When the main xbox screen comes up it looks pretty standard.

I have set xbox ip settings to 192.168.0.2 subnet to 255.255.255.0 and gateway to 192.168.0.1 . DNS settings are set to automatic.

computer settings are 192.168.0.1 with subnet of 255.255.255.0

When i pressed 'connect' on the xbox it said a connection was established successfully and my PC says "Local area network connected" so the direct crossover link is OK.

What I can't do is connect via ftp through Flashfxp. I go to quick connect, url: 192.168.0.2 u/n: xbox p/w: xbox . I have also tried leaving user name and password blank.

Do I still need to download this EvolutionX onto CD and load onto the xbox? I thought paying to have my xbox modded would have covered all this stuffing around.
