Is it a movie file that you are converting from say a .AVI to the DVD file system?

There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that do not.

You first need to convert it to dvd-video format. Here's something i use myself (there are others out there) - you can download a trial version of it here - http://www.winavi.com/WinAVI_Video_Converter.exe

Main PC ~ Intel C2Q Q6600 (G0 Stepping)/Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3/2GB Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500/Zalman CNPS9700/Antec 900/Corsair HX 620W
Network ~ DD-WRT ~ 2node WDS-WPA2/AES ~ Buffalo WHR-G54S. 3node WPA2/AES ~ WRT54GS v6 (inc. WEP BSSID), WRT54G v2, WRT54G2 v1. *** Forum Rules ***

i also got an "unable to write disc structure error" too, when trying to burn AVI files with Nero 6...tried winavi to convert the AVI to iso but then couldnt create a chapter menu when burning the iso's with Nero burning rom...also the dvd movie when played in a stand alone had a giant tag in the middle of the screen that said "buy winavi for $29.95 to remove this tag!" hah no thanks...anyhoot my guess is that Nero cant support giant files with chapter menus, buttons and added audio, try lowering Nero to long play in the config and get rid of your added menu stuff
