Hey,

ive got this television series that i want to rip and then convert to a 350MB avi file per episode. I was wondering is there a program that does this all in the one go or do i need to use another prog. like DVDShrink then use another prog. to convert to a 350MB avi file? Also what program would i use to convert them, havent been able to find a reliable one.

Also when i did try ripping a dvd the .vob files where all cut up so even if i did convert 2 an avi the eps would be all over the place is there a way to rip them into seperate vob files per ep? Or is this already meant to happen and just somthing reall f**cked happen to the ones i did rip?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have ripped HUNDERDS of TV-series from DVD to DivX using the DivX guide on this site.

Usually a program like SmartRipper lets you rip episode by episode, and cuts the .vobs for you. After that it's just following the guide. It is a lot of work, but the result is a very decent looking .AVI (I use a minimal bitrate of 900). I prefer this method above 'one-step' programs because I'm in control of every step.

One thing to keep in mind is that most TV-series have a 4:3 (f.e. 640x512) aspect ratio, NOT a 16:9 (f.e. 640x352)!

By the way, these days I only rip cartoons like The Simpsons or Futurama, since copying a DVD with DVDShrink is much simpler than ripping to DivX!
