I followed the instructions exactly and my first PS2 back up does not work. Can someone help?

Hi everyone,
okay, I got my flip top and my boot cd for dvd back ups.
I tried it on a japanese import naruto game and it works perfectly everytime with no problems.
So now I tried backing up my copy of Ratchet and Clank 2 with DVD Decrypter.
I followed the instructions and went to ISO read and made the game into an ISO and then I did ISO write and it burned the image onto my blank DVD.
I try the boot cd with my burned game and it doesn't work. What is wrong?
I used a TDK DVD +R
I used the real copy of ratchet and clank 2
I used DVD decrypter
Can someone help me figure this out?
Haha, wasting 4.7GB DVD+Rs sucks don't it?...

try dvd-r that might work..I use dvd+r on my ps2, the dvd-r dont work on mine,

hmmm... okay, I'll go buy some DVD-R later this week.
Any other ideas on what could be going wrong?
I retried burning that ratchet and clank 2 at a slower speed but it still didn't work. =(

Yea maybe it is best to use dvd-r.....those work for mt but i never use DVD Decrypter unless i am doing a dnas patch......i always use Nero and they work fine with no flaws....burn at 2x some do 4x but i do 2x speed.....hopefully this works for you brotha

Oh I saw that rachet and clank 2 was on that site.

Where can I find instructions on what to do with that file?

What boot cd are you using?
I would suggest getting SwapMagic discs v3.3 or higher as this will boot virtually all your games without the need of CDloader. (including Ratchet&Clank2)
Find out what version ps2 you have, this will help determine what media you can use. (+ or -). Version 1-4 only use -r's, except some v4's can do both. Version5 and higher should be able to play either.
As for burning .bin files, did it come with a .cue file as well? I believe you should be able to burn it in Nero with 'burn an image'.

oh okay, i have the swap magic 2.0 that's why...
So I'll have to keep using these dam cd loaders for certain games until I get my hands on 3.3!
Thanks for the help! I'm going to burn the CD Loader right now. I'll let you guys know on my progress. maybe my ps2 does play +Rs afterall. It is a version 4.

Hey I just burned that CD Loader and either it doesn't work or I'm doing something wrong.
Okay, I got the bin and cue file of the CD loader. I mounted the image and burned it onto a CD with Alcohol 120%
The CD looks like its burned right.
So after that I put my swap magic for DVD 2.0 in and then load up the CD Loader. It doesn't load up. So I thought oh maybe since I burned it on a CD I should load it up with the swap magic for CD. I put that in and when I tried to load the CD Loader my ps2 disk spun really fast and then all of a sudden stopped. (kinda worried about damaging the PS2 >_<) Anyway, I gave it another try but this time selecting NTSC for video mode. I got the same result. So I tried it one more time and pressed Square instead of X because it says Square is the Special boot option. I tried that but I got the same result!
Should I burn the CD Loader onto a DVD then?

I burned Ratchet and Clank 1 and that game worked because it doesnt need a cd loader fix.
Hey guys, what's a good site to get the latest swap magic cds?
Oh and I also realized that my swap magic CD is 3.0. My swap magic DVD is 2.0.
Does the CD Loader only load up with the 2.0 CD Loader? I get a feeling that this is the case.
HEhe... sorry I got the CDs from a friend so I didn't buy them like that. He just decided to give me one that was 2.0 and one that was 3.0 because that's what he had.
I'm screwed with the games that need CD Loaders until I can get Swap Magic 3.3 or whatever is the latest huh?

ok try this.
First you were right to burn cd loader to a cd.
Ok,put your swap magic cd in let it load and when prompted use your slide card and remove and put in cdloader.When you get to the screen that says: Change the disk and press x to play,eject the cdloader disk(remember eject not slide card!)
and then insert your Swap Magic DVD Disc and press X on the controller.
Now, use your Flip-Top PS2 Cover or Slide Card tool to switch your original Swap Magic DVD Disc
with your 1:1 DVDR game back-up and press X to load it.

I put in my swap magic cd and then when it tells me to insert disc I lift the lid and put in the CD Loader but that CD doesn't load up.
It has a pink border around when it loads and it freezes.

What version ps2 do you have?
If It's a v9-v12 swap magic 3 will give you trouble.
If it's anything else it should work.
The cdloader you burn't may be on cheap media or you burn't to fast.

@teknocube,just thinking with the pink border that means your swap magic cd is doing it's thing but it is having trouble loading the disk you burn't.Try slower read/write options and see how you go.

Hi Teknocube,
You could try getting dvdloader v7all, its the same as cd loader but ready to be burnt onto a dvd (made for those of us who have problems with cds). It's a small file, that you unrar and then burn as an image file in Nero onto a dvd.
Then just boot with your SM dvd. Then flip/slide with the dvdloader disk and press x once it has loaded to get to the loader options. Scroll down to 5v3 NO PN and press x with that highlighted. Once the disk stops spinning, press the eject button and re insert your SM dvd and press x. Once you get the swap by ea method screen, just flip/slide for the backup, press x and it should be fine.
You can get dvdloader on ps2nfo or from http://members.cox.net/candrid2/index.html.

I couldn't get a working link to a download of the DVD Loader. Does anyone have a link that works. I couldn't get the DVD Loader so I've been just playing games that don't need it.
