Does anyone know about anwell precision technolgy dvd disk??

Is this a crappy dvd media or a good media like ty or verbratim?

Anyone has any ideas??

How about longsten or melody?????? A crappy media??

I will always want to try out other media besides, verbratim, ty or maxell or ritek or rich.

I heard a lot bad media from maxell, momerex and other no names crappy media.

I also heard that sony dvd media using rich id but manufacture in taiwan??

I also heard that all dvd media made in tw suck? Is that true???

The ID code in the dvd media is only a guide line but doesnt mean anythings? Which mean the media can be made in tw using the same Id CODE right?

Where and how to choose the correct dvd media depend a lot personal experiences right????

In my country ty dvd which mean fujifilm.

Any feedback ??

Hi,
you have a fair few questions there, but i'll try and answer the Verbatim/Taiwan/media code parts. There are ppl far better at explaining stuff than me, who will also reply..

Memorex - there's not many who would recommend these, too many of them are CMC media codes etc, just not worth the time/money. If you were to search for Memorex thru the afterdawn forums alone, you would be busy a very long time reading all the hassle they cause.

As to the ID code in dvd media - quite right, a media code on it's own can make a crap/fake media appear to be a TY media etc, so you have to be very careful. For instance when i started movie burning, i used Bulkpaq Orange, they had a TYG02 code; but 100s of these burnt 100% in Nero, but upon playback or copying i would run into CRC errors. Have yet to watch many 100s more of these Bulkpaq's, so know i will have loads of hassle with a lot of discs that will need binning.

here's where i did explain what i meant a tad better -http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/177553...

:)

There's a few of us round here who love Verbatim's (Datalifeplus anyway). I myself have used many 8x -R from Taiwan, Singapore & India.

Here's a couple of threads re Taiwan/media codes -

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/187508...

Hope that helps a little, i'm sure you'll have some more detailed replies re the other stuff!

On the face of the dvd media it says Takahashi.
What does that mean??

quote from http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/158854... -

"magic" DVD-R are simply cheap AN32 media, well-known coaster material.

Did a bit more searching as i vaguely recalled reading about an32 somewhere - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/178345...

- it's down the bottom of the page and i partially quote "4TH CLASS MEDIA
Pathetic garbage media, landfill material, about 0-50% success rate"

Here's another good couple threads re different good quality media -

general rule of thumb, if you've NEVER heard of it, it's USUALLY BAD MEDIA~ :)

as for your LONGTEN, those are the manufact. codes for the slower 2x and 4x dash media made by Sonic and Melody~ def. a crappy company~
another note, sonic is KNOWN for having produced FAKE TYs in the past~ not a good reputation in MY book~

2ndly, Melody ...hahaha...they use primarily CMC MAG E01 now...the very BOTTOM OF THE RUNG~! with the occasional Prodisc RO3 for the plus format 8x media (if you're lucky)~

your comment about the maxells...i would have to disagree..they are very decent in my opinion, DEFINITELY not in the same category as the Memorex and these Melody's that you speak of..they BOTH use CMC MAG which SUCK~

in terms of where a disc is manufactured, don't always rely on this. i have great results from ALL my Verbatims which in my case are ALL manufactured in Taiwan. My Ritek GO5s are also made in Taiwan, i used about 500+ of those in the PAST w/ no problems, i just have since switched to TY(Japan) and Verbatim(Taiwan) due to personal preference with media made in Japan (Taiyo Yudens). so to answer your other question, NO-all dvd media made in taiwan does NOT suck~

next on your list, the media id code is a guideline, not to view it as if it were inscribed in stone. the problem with using a media identifier program is that the MID code is very easily faked now, i have in my possession a 25pk of FAKE TYS 8x dvd-r, w/ the code TYGO2, so, the MID code does NOT tell you the whole story.

next, yes, i am giving you this info based on MY thousands of burns based on PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, this is what i have done successfully, but based on your comp setup and home stand alone players and burning apps, you might or might not be as successful~ :)

what country are you from? when i shop locally here in the U.S. my Fujifilm 8x dvd+r (made in japan) are TYs MID coded YUDEN000T02 ...and the Fujifilm 8x dvd-r (made in japan) are MID coded TYGO2. i know for a fact these BOTH are authentic Taiyo Yudens and i've had hundreds of flawless burns with both of these FUJIs.

hope that clarifies things a bit, feel free to come back if you need any more assistance on TY media/Verbatim media as well~ :) i know these like the back of my hand~ :P

@henryting - see, told ya someone would explain more eloquently than myself :)

my biggest problem is i just don't remember things for long enough, so i tend to find it easier to copy/paste the odd thread. Memory just isn't what it used to be..

@kivory666, i left you a good opening there, knew you'd be along at some point :)
- plus noticed the updated sig. nice one..
