can anyone please explain to me in fairly simplified terms some thigns about DVD ripping.....Ive only started sussing it out this past weekend and really need the advice.

The main thing I am trying to do is copy DVD's to my hard drive as compressed files that I can keep there then use this program I downloaded off Nokias web site to convert them into 3GP files to play on a phone.....

Ive just got DVD Decrypter (hoping this is what I need) and downloaded most of a DVD onto my PC. What file type will this be....can I compress more cos its about 6 or 7 GB or do I use the Nokia (or other) program to compress it then dicth the large 7GB file??

Any General help is appreciated here cos I really dont know what Im doing and the guides Ive found go straight into techno-babble.

Apologies that I must sound really stupid....like I said - totally new to this.

You'll need DVD Shrink (free)to compress the file from Decrypter. Decrypter should have stored the files in a Video TS folder which you will open in Shrink. Shrink will also put the compressed file on your hard drive. I'm not fimilar with Nokia's software or know what's the largest file size it will accept so I can't help there.
Try these guides in this thread (it had alot of good info)- they are not techno babble.

Once your happy with your results your can delete the files created by Shrink and Decrypter.
