Ok I have about about 300 divx files on a 250gig hard drive. I want to back them up to DVDs. I dont care if they play in a dvd player, i just want them to play on a computer after i back them up. This will take about 50 DVDs. I am looking for the fastest way to do this. All I want to do is create one project then put a new disk in eveytime the first one is done.

I have nero 6. If I open nero and select create a DVD then add all 300 files to the disk, will nero ask me for a new disk everytime it is done burning one?

I dont want to have to create a new project for each disk. This would take forever... And I dont want to do a regular backup because then I will have to restore the whole backup just to watch one movie.

Any ideas on the best or fastest way to do this.

My guess from what you stated is that you just want to make a data dvd with those divx files. Open Nero to make a data dvd, browse and add as many files as the first dvd will hold and then burn. Your dvd should look like a partial section of your HD with those files and should play on the PC as you select each file. Try a RW dvd first to make sure it works. Then repeat the process for the other 49 dvds.

Ok i can do that but the thing is , I dont want to have to do it 50 times. I want to do it all at once so the dvd pops out and asks for a new one. Then I can just watch the drive over the next few days and just drop a DVD in when its ready. Kind of like a batch burn.

Any ideas on how to do it all at once?

I'm not aware of anyway to automate this process. Yes, it's going to take a long time.

For close to the price of the DVDs to do this you could get another hard drive, just a thought.

Another thought, use a backup program. It will prompt you to change disks, but it will probably split files, so that would be a deal breaker.

Good luck with this.

Hi LivnDGirl,

I actually have bought a second 250gig drive to store the movies on but for some reason with all these very large files the Master File Table always becomes corrupt. Then I have to use a data recovery tool to copy them to a new drive. This has happened about 4 or 5 times. Now that I have them recovered I need to back them up for sure this time. I have thought about doing a regular backup but your right about spliting files. This will not work if I plan on using the files on each disc individually.

Oh and by the ways 50 dvds is only 14 bucks.

Anyone else know how to batch copy 250gigs?

Nero Ultra has the Back It UP feature to back up HDs or just parts of it. I don't think it would actually split a single file between discs, but I'm not sure. Maybe e-mail Nero and ask how it handles files at the end of a disc. If it doesn't actually split the end file on the disc then it should do what you want.

Damn..... that's a lot of stuff there. I don't know if you can back up that much of gigs with the drive keep poping and asking for another dvd after another. The most I'd ever done is simply copy 6 or 7 AVI movies (depending on how big is the file) as in DATA into 1 dvd that's all.

Good luck with your burning..!!
