hi to all!! i would like to ask for help in regards to my burner. it takes me 2 to 3 hours to burn and when i connect the burner to the laptop usb, it says that the burner is connected to a non high speed usb. does this affect my burning time?
hp ze 4600
40gb 1.6 or 1.8 ghz
If your laptop only has USB v1.1 (12 Mbps MAX) you will need to purchase a USB v2.0 PCMCIA Adapter (480 Mbps).
If you laptop has a spare PCMCIA slot available.
See the huge diffence is speed from USB1 to USB2 ?
12 Mbps translates to 1.5 Megabytes per second (ie 1500ish KB/sec data transferred)
480 Mbps translates to 60 Megabytes per second (ie 61000ish KB/sec data transferred - however no burner could go that fast, but there's theoretically loads of capacity there)
ie if i was burning a DVD at 8x speed, i'd be trying to transfer data at 8000ish KB/sec (very approximately). Same difference for ripping from a disc too.
On my DVD-ROM, according to Shrink, I've seen in excess of 11,000KB/sec, and on my Lite-On LDW-851S DVD+R 8x (burner), according to Decrypter, I have seen up to 10800KB/sec.
