Im new to video editing so I guess thats why i never realised how huge video files can be when outputted. My question is; "how can i output video (from After Effects for example) at a 'reasonable' size for web output. At present, I have a 30 second video ( outputted in .mov format) and its over 78 mb's - absolutely ridiculous. What are some of the quickest ways to cut down the size of the output file?

p.s. sorry if this is the wrong section of the board. I was a bit overcome by all the technical terms so i figured posting in 'general' was my best bet. :)

blah deh blah. zoinks

If this video is for the web only, then use Windows Movie Maker, and save it as .wmv
You can adjust the bitrate to shrink the file. WMM doesn't give you numbers, it give's you quality selections, from DVD (being the highest, largest files) to 56k (being the smallest).
Beware, the lower you go, the worse the quality gets.
If it must be in QT format, you'll have to wait for someone else, as I never use QT for anything.

Black holes are where God divided by zero...
Cheers, Jim
