I've been trying to make a backup of this DVD for a couple days and finally got it to work! I had been using DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD but kept getting a read error on VTS_03_1.VOB. I even tried the different program settings people mentioned in this thread. Then I downloaded DVD Region + CSS (as suggested in this forum) and installed it. I tried using DVD Shrink to generate the iso file but started having out of page memory problems. I then downloaded and installed Any DVD v5.1.2.1 and was able to use DVD Shrink to create an iso file and then used DVD Decrypter (could have used Nero) to burn the DVD.
The ironic thing is I really don't think the movie was worth spending this much time on but I was not about to give up on the backup!
Thanks for everyone's input on this thread!

O.k. guys and gals. I have tried all that was posted on these treads and so far no luck. I now have 4 Are We There Yet dvds and tried on every last 1 of them and still no luck. The disc are brand new so as far as programs saying they are dirty isn't the case. I tried VobBlanker 2.0.0.2 along with AnyDVD 5.1.2.1 to rip it to hard drive and no luck. Then I tried DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15 along with AnyDVD 5.1.2.1 again still no luck to get movie on hard drive along with me trying this method 1st I did full disc and there was no luck so I tried re-authur main movie still no luck. DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 along with AnyDVD 5.1.2.1 and I tried file mode and iso mode once again no luck. DVD X Copy Plat/ with AnyDVD 5.1.2.1 no luck at all. DVD X Utilities 1.5 with AnyDVD 5.1.2.1 no luck and by the way this was the worst out of all. Last but not least my favorite program CloneDVD 1.3.1.1 on up to 2.8.2.1 along with along with 6 different AnyDVD versions up to 5.1.2.1 just to make sure I didn't have the beta. No luck everybody on my methods so what should I try and what should I do next. I am sorry this is so long but I wanted to be specific on the things I used and tried

Give this a try, I used clone dvd with AnyDVD, I used the first of the three panels, or the one at the top, but I used clone dvd 1, but they say clone dvd 2 also works as well, give it a try.

Thanks for the input asdhgf. I already tried all of the versions of clone dvd I could think of and find as well as AnyDVD. Could you please tell me what version of AnyDVD you are using and what version of clone dvd. You can see the version when you open it up and click on about on each program and it will tell you the version. I have done all I can to burn this movie and yet still no luck so I need to know specifically what to do and what program to use along with what version to use, I thank you all for you input and help

I was just responding back to this tread. I finally got this dvd to burn. I used VobBlanker and AnyDVD 5.1.2.1 I discovered on using vobblanker to press the process button on the bottom of the program and not let it load on it's own. I also had AnyDVD 5.1.2.1 running in the background for extra support on ripping the movie into my hard drive. Once it was all set into my harddrive I burned the movie with clonedvd2 doing all titles and ;et ot do everything on it's own. I hope this helps out everybody. For everyone that doesn't know you can get vobblanker from this site:

S2K I appreciate your input butthe thing is I tried everything and I also tried DVD Decrypter and it always stopped on like 61% for the total process on file mode and iso mode would give me errors too. I tried all kinds of methods to do it and I guess it just depends on the persons hardware on their computer which determines what is best. I did the CloneDVD and AnyDVD, decrypter, and some other programs. When I used VOB Blanker along with AnyDVD running in the back groud I ripped the movie on my harddrive within 8 minutes and simple ran clone dvd all titles and menues and it just took and extra 20 minutes and let it do everything for me and that was smooth sailing for me. Afterdawn.com I have to give it up if it wasn't for everyone's help burning movies and all kinds of stuff wouldn't be easy.

Well, my problems were because it was a bad disc. When I watched it on my Phillips DVD player, it froze around the 75 minute mark and I had to skip the chapter (couldn't even fast forward). Then it was fine. So, in my case, DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink should work with a legit copy. Seeing all these people's issues though, I wonde if Sony had a REALLY bad batch considering most of us were the first people to watch the copies we had problems with.

If you goto the slysoft website and download v5.1.1 something or other you will have what you need. Uninstall the 5.1.2 version (the newest one) then install the one from slysoft it has a 21 day trial. This definitely bypass the CSS with no trouble. I assume that since this is your backup that you have in fact watched your original and it is ok? AnyDVD in combination with your favorite ripper should be fine. Since this is the DVD Shrink forum I figure that your using it. I personaly use Nero Recode 2 and love it. If you insist on freeware then as a newbie expect a large learning curve. It took me months to get good VCD/DvD's with freeware; anyway DvDdecrypter has a new version get it as it works well with DvD shrink; it will rip the Video TS folder for this movie as I have done it (without anydvd) just to see if it would. Then shrink it and burn with most burning software. If your disk is good and you use the 5.1.1 version of AnyDVD along with the latest Decrypter then you should have endless options for rippingto HD or encoding to DvD+r on the fly with something like Nero Rencoder 2, 1Click DvD, or CloneDVD. I may have digressed slightly but also check other threads regarding this movie but this really should work as I backed mine up this morning with full menu and extras.
Hope this works for ya, be patient if using the multi step freewares

Hey mrsilly69,
I hope that we don't get it for talking Nero in the Shrink forum but the newest version of Nero 6...... something is great. You certainly could rip with decrypter first but I usually run DVD43 in the backround which tricks Nero into believing that the dick is not protected. With this you can burn on the fly; no harddisk files..well it's a temp file anyway. Nero with DVD43, or in the case of Are we there yet you'll need AnyDVD v 5.1.1.1 as DVD43 didn't work on that movie, this combo will rip, shrink, and burn the movie with all features onto a single layer 4.7 GB dvd in about 45 minutes. The AnyDVD version 5.1.1.1 is hard to find, I downloaded it from slysoft and the next day someone said it was upped to v 5.2.1 or something. I do have the 21 day trial installation for v 5.1.1.1 If you look on Kaazzaa lite my user name is dissones4u I have the trial install in my shared folder. I've also offered to try and get it to the folks at afterdawn if they would want to post it.
Hope this helps Dissones4u ;)

I was having major problems trying to rip Are We There Yet? to my hard drive. Thanks to the people of this forum,I used DVD Decrypter with AnyDVD 5.2.2.1 running in the background and all my troubles went away. I ripped it to my HD, then used DVD Shrink so it would fit on a disk.
Thanks all the people who recommended Anydvd

I used the latest version of AnyDVD. However after I copied the movie I put it in my DVd to watch the movie and to my suprise all I got were the directors comments. However when I put the original disk in the DVD player I can watch the movie. Please help to solve this mystery. I am using AnyDVD and shrink. Thanks in advance.

For your standalone just pick a different audio. I've had that happened on 1 or 2 - the standalone defaults to the commentary audio for some reason. Pressed audio on remote and changed. I usually remove these audio tracks. In shrink under audio just uncheck them.

I don't have a standalone. I am burning this movie directly from my PC to my dvd burner Pioneer DVR A06U 4x. I am not understanding why I am only getting the directors comments instead of the actual movie.

Maybe you dragged the directors comments instead of the main movie...
Re-shrink with the main movie and on compression settings take out everything but the 5.1 audio.

I am not sure what you mean by a log of the write. I'm a newbie at this thing but I put the disk in click on shrink. The movie starts analysing. Then I click on Main Movie from there I click on Backup. It begins encoding to my hard drive but I can see the Director's Comments being encoded not the acutual movie. But when I put the original disk into dvd player I can see the actual movie, scene selections, etc. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have tried everything. But nothing seems to help. Please help in any way possible.
