error 5 means your hd is unlocked...if you want to run the retail bios and dashboard your hd must be locked.

if you have a modded xbox you should be able to do it right there in your dashboard.

How much does it cost to get it modded and can I do it if its not modded,what do you do to the dash board to lock the hd.

the only way to fix your hd is to mod the motherboard that came with the hd...price depends on whether or not you can solder...it is cheaper if you solder the chip in...it is about $17 more for a solderless chip...search the web more online stores that sell xbox modchips.
