Erase rewritable DVD+RW

Hi
Lately everytime i try to erase a dvd+rw my rewriter seems to be corrupting my disks. Iam using nero, i click to erase disk and after about 20 seconds it says it is complete. I then try and burn on this disk and it says 'illegal medium' and will not let me use the disk. I have tryed using different software and a range of disks but still get this problem. Last month the writer was erasing disks fine and now this keeps happening although it will still write on blank dvd+r.
Can anyone help? Thanks.

This tool has a erase disc option, and is very usesfull.

Otherwise some would suggest, remove and re-install nero.
