When I put a disk in, it doesn't say disk read error..the ps2 system makes a funny noise over and over again until i turn it off..

I was playing a Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition backup and it has worked good for a long time, but then it froze on me..Now when I restart it, it makes funny noises and wont read the disk.
Please Help!
Thanx

That is what my V5 did when my laser started to go. Is it a newer PSTwo or older PS2?
You can try cleaning and adjusting the laser, that is how i got mine working again. I can't explain the noise it made because it was real strange, it would spin and make noise (kind of a grinding noise), but nothing would load up.

Dying laser or dirty laser. Try cleaning the laser eye if you have not done so already. Follow the procedures that you can find online (google it). That worked for my PS2 and its one of the first model playstations.

usually that grinding noise is your game spinning out on the spindle.the disc is stopped at certain points so the lens can go read other areas of the disc.when it comes to these stops your game disc is continuing to spin while the spindle is stopped.you could take a piece of scotch tape(small piece) and put it thru the center hole in the game disc and adhere it on both sides(dont get the tape on the data area).this gives the disc traction to the spindle and it wont spin out.the tape wont come off while you are playing if you press it on firmly and scotch tape is easy to remove.
