garbage.

Movies will play fine but ps2 games are different,
they read more frequently and directly from the media.

I use Fujifilm 8x +r and/or Verbatim (MCC)

But dont take my word for it look here:

http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

The following list is in preference order.

MXLRG01, MXLRG02 = Maxell = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
MCC = Mitsubishi Chemicals = (-R)<-----------------VERBATIM MY CHOICE #1
TDKG02 = TDK Corp = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
TAIYOYUDEN or YUDEN = Taiyo Yuden = (-R)<--------------FUJIFILM (made in japan) MY CHOICE #2

patches are needed for the older versions
3.0 and lower.

Im assuming your refering to the cd-loader and dvd-loader.

I hate the fujifilm DVD-r's. They say you can burn up to 8x, but I can only get 2x on thoses. I hope it's not the fact that my burner is not capatible with the media types, but I rely on the sony DVDr's and the memorox 4x DVD-r's. I hate the ones that burn only 2x on my burner.

It depends on your version ps2 and the laser thats in it.
I have found that +r runs butter on my ps2,
But you will have to discover that on your own,

Older ps2 wont run +r (ver 1-4) but newer ones
work like a charm.

(The 8x -r are ricohjpn ant the +r are taiyo yuden).

@-'Bob63'~
I have never had any problems with Verbatim or Fujifilm.
If you cant adjust your burn speed with the media
You need to update your firmware or your burner is cheap.

If you look at the link I posted both Princo and Memorex,
are at the bottom.

If you want to waste your money that fine but at least know the facts.

Dvd movies and games are different.
Movies read in one format always the same.
Games are different they read more often and heavily from different files
on the media.
You cant compare movies and ps2 games they arent the same.

Jack jack jack .....

i don't get you people .. newbie or not ... why keep asking on several stupid posts whats the best media to use? I mean .. there's only already a GAZILLION posts about the best media ...

Secondly .... then most of you still jap and nag about the price .... are you kidding me ? What kind of cheapasses are you guys ? 20 $ for a pack of 50 verbatim 1-8x ? Seriously thats practically giving them away? Most dvd's, whatever brand they are are that cheap with you guys but you still complain ...

Do you hear anyone complaining from Belgium about the price ? You know what a 50pack would cost over here ? 100$ thats how much that costs over here ... still you don't hear me or others complaining about those prices ..

Djeezes ... just kinda ticking me off and i'm sure i'm not the only one that feels like this

i'm also using Princo dvd-rs. i recieved a 100-pack of them a few months ago. i'm extremely new to the whole ps2 backup scene and stuff so i've got a few questions.

i heard that using cheap low quality discs can wear down the ps2 laser. is this true? and if so, how long does it usually take before the ps2 becomes completely unusable? also, i've burned about 20 ps2 games i've downloaded off the internet (i hope saying that isn't against the rules...) on the Princo discs and so far i haven't had a single coaster. all the games play perfectly. (i've also copied a few games i legally own on them, and they play fine too.) however, the ps2 sounds different, like the laser is struggling to read the discs. i assumed this was normal. :S

if these Princos do wear down my laser, i'd like to know what the least expensive brand of dvd-rs that won't is? thanks.

man you have to be some kind of dvd engineer yo know something like that.basically the more you play your ps2 the more worn down it is going to get no matter what media you use.youre pretty much looking to deep into stuff.if dvdrs do wear down your ps2 i doubt that it is significantly more than any other type of media.

what type of mod are you using?

HenriPaul,
I used 50 Princo in my Liteon Burner and made 1 coaster (my bad), I used the Princo's for DVD Movies and PS2 Games, with no problems, in fact I burnt all my Princos at 4x, my next buy was Ridata white printable, I initially made 3 coasters, they wouldn't burn at 4x, would only burn at 2x, I investigated and use some software (can't remember the name of it) it shows how good the burnt disc is, well, the princo DVD Movies and PS2 games were not that good, the Ridata were really good. But understand, I never had a problem watching or playing the Princos.

Hope that helps.
