My Swap Magic 3.6 won't work

I get the initial bootup screen but it just gets stuck on that screen without giving me the option to "load program." I have a version 7/8 ps2. Sometimes I even get a read disc error. Should I try repairing the lens myself or is there something simpler I could do to fix this problem before I do that? Btw I gave my friend the swap discs and everythng works fine for him so I know it's not the discs.

you could try cleaning the laser, it maybe that

but do you read orignal ps2 games ok?

yeah clean it first and if that doesnt happen send the swap magic back and tell them its faulty and it doesnt work...sometimes the swap magic disc are faulty...it happened to me
