thanks for the kind words matt72, i am very glad that some of my info has proven helpful in your learning process, while i might not know much about all the various burning/ripping/authoring programs out there, my specialty is DEFINITELY MEDIA~ i have tried just about every single kind out there within my 2-3 years of backing up my own dvd collection, so i usually recommend to others what has worked best for me. that being said, with THOUSANDS of burns on Taiyo Yuden and almost a thousand with Verbatim...i have narrowed it down to those 2 that i personally regard as being of the highest quality.
there are naturally other good ones out there-ie. maxell, ritek; but i keep my recommendations somewhat biased because if after a thousand burns and the quality has still remained the same, TY and Verbatim have definitely got my vote for quality, reliable media :)

i have a few hundred Ritek G05s that are great too (from 2 years ago mind you), and a hundred plus of the maxells which seem to be good as well (that i just burned recently within the last 2 months).

i learn new stuff whenever i am on AD, there is just a huge wealth of info on here, this is a great site~ :)

time to get back to some more burning...good luck to you. happy burning~

I have gone through 2 - 25 packs of the Pengo DVD-R discs. The first one, I only had a couple bad discs in the pack. This second one is giving me about 75% coasters. Funny thing is that I paid $25 for the 25 pack of Pengo's, then went and got a 25 pack of Memorex DVD-s's for $20 and they have been rock solid so far. Don't let a slick looking hamburger case fool you. Buy a good name brand cause it really ticks me off to waste XX hours burning a disc that turns out to be a frisbee.

@Bunkster - let us know when you buy "a good name brand" (ie not the Memorex) as they'll let you down sooner rather than later :)

..Memorex/CMC - don't let them near your Burner..... - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/195438

@Bunkster, give those memorex a month or two and try copying them. I've had some decent memorex media when I first started burning, but now, almost two years later, and a bunch of nice shiny memorex coasters, I find myself wishing I'd heard of AD and Taiyo Yuden sooner! Trust these guys on here when they point you in the direction of Ty or Verbatim, they really know their stuff!

exactly, those memorex will do you more harm than good...Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim are the way to go...

it's good you are having success w/ those Memorex, so much for the Pengo ones that EVERYONE seems to have problems with, but, since you are on a roll...go TY or Verbs~ you will be even MORE pleased... :)
